    From a recent post ABOVE.

    24HGP-2278XX

The Permit number indicates 227,800 (plus or minus 100) issued in total from an UNK date.
Another recent permit issued in 2023-

    23HGP-1822XX

    227,800-182,200 = 45,600 Since 8/2023 (9 mos) about 5,000 per Month

(This question has been asked and answered REPEATEDLY on this forum)

As time goes on, the simple math becomes less accurate. When folks renew their permits, a new number is assigned, so the latest consecutive permit number also includes expired/dead permits.

With the current permit numbering system, there’s really no way for someone on the outside to be able to mathematically determine true number of live permits.

I would imagine that they will have to adopt a different numbering system at some point.

You are correct and mistaken - simultaneously.

The original Q was "how many permits were issued?"

MSP doesn't care about outside opinions- they probably won't change their numbering system for decades, unless the Portal suffers a catastrophic/unrecoverable crash.

Hundreds of Permits issued 2 and 3 years ago will expire May 31 - 22HGP xxxxxx and 21HGP xxxxxx, and nobody will care about the gross number history. All permits issued before 4/30/2021 have expired.

    It's a pointless yet often repeated Q.
