Cunningham Falls is the MD State Park, Catoctin is a National Park, and Camp David is just north of Catoctin.
Not to sure. I thought it was right around Cat Rock.
First I did a long hike from the Manor area trailhead up to Cat Rock. Did not see many people on Thursday besides some guys from PATC working on the trail. It was 4 miles up to Cat Rock and I did a rock scramble to the top. Sunday I did a short hike from a parking lot on Rt 77. It took about an...
There did seem to be a lot of activity in town and I can imagine there must be a lot of tourists in town, especially for the battle anniversary. I would like to avoid that.
We went to a lacrosse game at Gettysburg College and then had lunch at Fourscore Beer Company. The food and beer were good. It's not far from home, so I would like to spend some more time in the Gettysburg area. The Glen Rock area also seems cool, just north of Baltimore and off the beaten path...
Check out the recent issue of Muzzle Blasts for the article about factories which blew up due to hazards of dust in mills. This included not just black powder factories, but also flour mills, and other milling operations in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Didn't the Domino Sugar plant have a...
I will stick with my 20 year old JM 1894C Marlin in .357 Magnum. I'd like to pick up a Winchester lever gun, but a new S&W, not so much. But I love their revolvers.
It's amazing to hear all the reasons for not cleaning firearms. I have assumed that cleaning is necessary for proper functioning, accuracy, and prevention of rust, and other problems. But what do I know?
If you are into collector guns, maybe think about a Colt Woodsman or the less expensive Challenger and Huntsman. These guns are excellent shooters, especially the Woodsman Match guns. They are built for the 22 LR, not so bulky like the Ruger semi-autos.
Those markings are unusual. Just wondering if that is a 1990s era manufacture. It does not have the standard serial number, etc. for East German Makarov.
I was issued M16A1s during my service in the early '80s. Those were old Vietnam era rifles still in service then. They seemed pretty flimsy with triangular hand guards and thin barrels. I much prefer the Colt M4 with a heavy barrel. Now I own a law enforcement version with a 1-in-7 inch twist to...
And the 7.62 Tokarev is an impressive round with a nice fireball, muzzle velocities around 1300-1400 fps are very impressive. But that Russian Tok is too rare to shoot much.
The design of the Tokarev is unique. From the trigger to the cutouts on the slide and the rounded trigger, it is...
Very cool! How did you track this down? I have a few east European Toks and several hundred rounds of Bulgarian corrosive 7.62 x 25 mm ammo. But I would really like to know how to find an original Soviet Tok. Appreciate any information \.
I got a new 686+ with a 6 inch barrel. The first shot went right in the X ring. So something must be really wrong. Send it back to Smith for warranty repair.
