    By a vote of 54 to 46, the Senate defeated the Manchin-Toomey Amendment to S649, the gun legislation bill which Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) introduced last week. The amendment would have expanded background checks for the purchase of firearms as well as create a commission to study the causes of mass violence in the U.S. There are eight more amendments to be voted on.

    Good news.

    Poor Harry. He must be apoplectic

    :thumbsup:

    Actually he voted against it. Which is fun. He's a scumbag but his constituents live in Nevada not Connecticut. :)

    {EDIT}

    Oops. I should retract this. He switched his vote to no for procedural reasons when it was clear it would fail.

    First of all, this topic title should be changed/expanded, please.

    Second, I see Obama has now scheduled a news conference to probably complain, and also to go his own on enacting whatever he can do to "curb gun violence."

    theBigOne2087, yes the AWB is done....in regards to Feinswine's contributions. Hopefully it stresses her enough to take a page from Robey and retire.
