I bought my Mity back in the mid 80's.
    A 6" dial caliper & a micrometer.
I see it as Buy once, cry once.
I later added a digital Brand "X" from midway. It quick & nasty & it works, but I have to remove the battery every time I finish because it drains them zeroed & in storage.
The thing is a precision instrument need to be precise. If its off base zero its not any good.

Had good luck with my Pittsburgh from harbor freight. But, I don't have OCD or other hangups about the difference between .000 and .005 and whether it is really .005.

    YMMV

When I was trying to make a .003 interference fit, .005 made a difference. The work was F'd.

I guess I dropped 'em once too often. The dial on my calipers shows .050 when fully closed so unless I want to look at it upside down or do the math every time I use them...time to get new calipers.

Recommendations for good quality calipers? Not GREAT quality...I probably won't want to spend $100 on calipers. But something good and reliable.

Or...anyone have a set that you want to get rid of? If so, let me know.
I would sell mine, but Ammo Jon keeps borrowing them. I am not sure he knows how to use them, they are dial not digital.

If you're going to shell out for something decent make sure to get it from a reputable source, I'm pretty sure my mitutoyos are counterfit.
