So, I need a G&S cause to open or concealed carry a handgun, but I'm allowed to open carry a long gun? Does this mean I won't be hampered/arrested for walking around my neighborhood with my Saiga 12 shotgun strapped in a patrol carry?

Seems a bit counter intuitive, I think most people here in Montgomery county would freak out if they saw me open carrying a loaded S12.

That's what they say. I'm sure MD would find something like "disturbing the peace" or "terrorism" to charge you with. I don't think any of us wants to be the test case on this one.

I would strongly encourage you to read the litany of "yes....buts" in the letter from the AG's office.

This is one where we need a libertarian who doesn't actually care about firearms to step up to be our test case. Either we get a favorable ruling , or we show up to prevaricating of the AG for all to see , in particularily appellate courts.

Until the 2A outside the home is ruled upon by the court. Do not attempt LGOC in Balitmore, Rockville, or Leonardtown.

MD grandtathered the local ordinances that existed before 1/1/1985 when it passed premption.

Should we require noobs to read the entire MD 2A and Nat 2A threads before posting! It seems they all need to tell us about things we have been in the middle of for years. Kind of like when your 5yr old tells you that the Moon is not cheese.

Should we require posters who have been here forever to take a step back and realize that they are putting a better face on this forum by answering the question politely and concisely, rather than showing how intolerant some are to those seeking knowledge by just posting meaningless snark?

What would it say? No one should give legal interpretations or advice via the forum IMO. The AG ruling is available in many threads. Inigoes has a thread on older local codes. what else is left?

Could say what you just did then we wouldn't have a thread about it every other day.

Once, in the mid '80's, I think, I saw a man walking through downtown Annapolis with a double shotgun broken over his arm. Very nonchalant about it. Nobody said a thing.

    Attitude should not be underestimated.

How about we get excited because the word is getting out to "noobs" that the MD AG is defending their case with LGOC, even if it is a play on words, and strongly advised against.

Welcome to MDS! We encourage the use of search, and contrary to some comments, are glad you found us!

We all started somewhere as a noob!
