The recent amendment eliminated the need to register any prior regulated purchases, but the pistol you owned before moving to Maryland would need to be registered.

My understanding of licensing is that you only need it if you want to purchase additional handguns.

We need to redouble our efforts to persuade thier legislators that this is a poorly written unconstitutional law. Talk about revolution, or defeatist talk of moving out of state is counterproductive and premature. Don't say that the legislative process failed just because it got out of committee. This is when we need to participate in the process, not opt out. Don't give up, that's what they want you to do.

I am going to write the legislators who are on the fence specific emails about thier concerns. For example, I plan to tell Zirkin he didn't do enough to stand up for the rights of people who may have had a disorder that put them in an institution (anorexia, for example) and now must vote against the bill.

    We need to keep fighting.

This is Maryland and we have no rights.

    Not exactly true.

We have the right to send elected officials back to the private sector. That message needs to be shared with every representative with whom there is a beef.

Many will say there are no good candidates running, in which case we simply vote for our foe's opponent.

When good folks (like IMHO Charles Lollar) run, we need to turn out en masse.

I keep waiting to see when Maryland residents have had enough. Apparently we're not there yet.

Please bring up post partem depression as well....my wife admits I could have had her EPed to Sheppard Pratt or the like, she was so nuts. But that should not bar her from owning a gun 10 years from now.

New member. This whole mess has galvanized me off my a**. Having moved from Virginia to Maryland a few years back, this has been an eye-opener. I knew there were differences between the states, but I just didn't know how much! Not that Virginia isn't headed down the liberal path as well...
I couldn't make the earlier gathering in Annapolis, but I can on the 1st. Any consensus on should we be there?

I will, but I guess I was a little clumsy making my point. The point is to figure out what the fence-sitter's personal issues are with the bill, and hammer on those. For example, Miller said that he was concerned that the licencing provision was a violation of the Second Amendment. I will make that the focus of my next email to him. If course, I'll tell him that the whole bill is crap, but I want to focus on what he is already sensitive to.

Post pardum depression disqualification is a perfect example of how you could get support from someone who is interested in women's rights but not gun rights.

So clearly, flooding them with letters and filibustering the hearings didn't work. Where do we go from here? Pitchforks and torches outside their offices? Recall petitions? Lawsuits?

Not a chance. NOW is a part of the professional left and will not break ranks with the Brady Foundation and others, despite proof that armed women prevent rapes.

Read the topic started by smores. He was contacted by Middleton. Keep up the pressure as is. Send paper mail as well as/instead of emails. (And, IMNSHO, continue planning rearguard action.)

We did, for all the good it did. They've got these voting districts gerrymandered to hell. You couldn't get a man like Lollar elected if your life depended on it.

    I completely agree with you.

Maryland is my home now and I want to try to make it better. I have a nice number of friends here and a nice life for my family.

Do we have a coordinated point where we can make MD Shooters voices heard. I am not able to follow all of the threads and am unsure if I missed one.

I am using the NRA email notices and the NRAILA (sp?) Emailing tools to send word to my reps and senators.

    Andy..

PS what does being designated a registered collector do for you.?

Welcome and go on the 1st and testify or pack the halls. We need as many as possible.

No one has explained to me why Marylanders are more unhinged, insane, and less trustworthy than Texans, Vermonters, Floridians and Iraqis, and thus need to have this unnatural restriction on our freedom imposed upon us. I suppose the masters of the 60% who do what they are told by their betters don't have to explain to their thralls, but I would like them to explain it to us.

It reminds me of the shoebomber fallout or kangaroo court. Due to crime in Baltimore City and PG County, they want to clamp down on everyone.

They see it as 2 groups, people with guns & people without guns. There are actually 4 permutations. Bad/good people & have-guns/no-guns. They are drawing the line with all the gun people on one side instead of all the bad people on one side.

I've been saying this for months, years now maybe.

By the way gun purchase and carry laws are (currently) in DE and PA, you expect there to be daily shootouts over parking spaces, the last loaf of bread at the store,....etc.

I don't get how they even survive as States, the murder and assault rates must be sky high right? All those guns, no 37 day wait, no fvcking insane standards for who gets ccw........

What does NOW have to do with it? My delegate doesn't belong to NOW, but is active on women's issues. I plan to point out to her that SB 281 unfairly penalizes women who seek help for post partum depression. She doesn't think it violates the Second Amendment - I disagree, but I want to make the argument that resonates the best.

For starters, take a look at our voting record and the absolute filth we elect to office.
