It makes me wonder. If we overturn or repeal the AWB will they be happy or will they bitch about G&S.

Its sickening. No other word for it.

I agree. The shell casing req was a major PITA, I couldn't get two guns over it because I couldnt find someone to work with my on the test fire.

major win but people can't wait to shit all over it (on Maryland Shall Issue FB page). likely the same ones who can't be bother to write their reps or throw a few bucks in the NRA jar at the gun show

Hallelujah! Finally, a sensible, "common sense" gun law is going to be passed in Maryland. Let us just hope that this is one of more to come.

I'm still looking at this sideways, trying to figure out what the catch is - it seems too good to be true.

There is no catch. I think it is a combination of O'Malley / Frosh gone (kinda) + the continual testimony in the committees + MSP acknowledging it is a dead program.

It's a great move fiscally for the State. And that is probably the main reason it got passed. But I'm sure there was a lot of educating of anti-gun dems that this is (was yay!) a worthless measure. Now the goal is to build on this and show that other crap laws don't do what they were sold on them doing. GA 2016 starts now! Reserve that first and second Tuesday on February so you can be set for 2A Tuesday and get ready to make more headway.

To scrap the existing trove of brass would be the tragick! Think of the childrenz who could be saved by all that brass!

I say it should be maintained forever, in the Attorney General's garage.

He should be required to catalog it. Every case.

I didn't know Frosh was a reloader. Huh, learn something new every day. :innocent0

As others have already noted, nothing flies through like this unless the fix is in. I'd like to know what arrangement was made to make this happen.

As to any potential downside, you just have to think like the liberal Demonrats in the General Asylum: How many more gun dealers can we drive out of business between now & October, since no one will want to buy a new handgun until this bill takes effect!

There was no back room dealing going on here for this to get through. This was sponsored by my Delegate and he pushed this as a purely economical issue and kept away from the 2A issue of things. With Hogan having a huge budget push, this allowed the other side to look at it a different way. I don't care how it was done, but it was done and it's a win for us.

Was this really costing us that much money? The positions remain (IIRC, 3 lab techs?), there's $150K/year minimum. The storage could be amortized among facilities already being used. The machines/software/etc. aren't being used anymore anyway?

A win is a win, but what did we win? Educate me please - and I'm not trying to condescend.

Our heavily democratic legislature did away with a burdensome requirement that created headaches for manufacturers, dealers, and purchasers alike. Everyone in the firearms industry and community wanted this gone. We have a governor who will actually sign such a thing in to law.

While it doesn't concern carry or banned firearms, the fact is our MGA passed a bill that makes life easier (albeit not tremendously) for people of the gun. That's a win.

    I'm delighted that this passed.

But it's a sad commentary about MD that such an obvious, common sense action is the cause for praise.

In a rational state led by rational people, citizens would have fired anyone opposed to this long ago, especially given an $800 million budget deficit.

So this means buying a handgun via the internet to your FFL will become cheaper?

Since you are no longer paying for spent shell casing?
