I wish the people who need to be able to protect themselves the most would actually value their right to self defense.
Sad how clueless some people really are.

To let us know who they are, more people like this should put on their dumbass hat and protest businesses who offer discounts to other businesses and organizations with a lot of buying power.

    From the article:

“We’ve run into a basic divide here, and I think it’s based on an awful lot of political ideology,” Patton says. “The stereotype of those on the right is that they don’t like gays but they do like guns, and then there’s the opposite stereotype, that if you’re on the left you don’t like guns but you do like gays. That perspective is based on the premise that gay people should give up their right to self defense, give up their right to guns, so they can get their gay rights from the politicians who support gun control. I personally don’t like that. Why do we have to give up some rights?”

    Bingo!

I would think after the shooting in Orlando, more folks in the LGBT community would want to consider getting firearms, getting trained, and getting CCW. I know that I've trained several gay students who want to exercise their rights to basic self defense. Of course, in Florida, CCW holders are not allowed to carry firearms in night clubs, when it comes to any of these mass shootings, the first question to pop into my head is "what would have happened if there was a trained firearms owner in there that was carrying?"
Any group that faces oppression should be looking for help from the NRA. Contrary to what the MSM portrays, the NRA is not restricted to old, white, conservative men. It's a big tent and anyone that values 2A rights is welcome under the tent.

    Hey, transgendered already get half-off!

So, if NRA membership and alternative sexual orientation are somehow equivalent, can I get protected victims status for being in the NRA? Will the US Attorney General go after people for saying nasty things about my NRA membership?

They are 1/2 of 1% of the total population of America, yet they have such a controlling interest
in the lives of everyone. Why is this? When did the minority take over for the majority regarding
laws and rights. That's right, Join the NRA and reap the benefits or go do whatever that closet thing is that
you do. Just leave me out of your plans to take over the world.

I would protest BLTGQXYZ, but I'm a straight, white, gun loving, conservative Christian male.

    I've already caused enough damage.

“I can’t speak for the whole community, but Orlando was hit very hard by the Pulse tragedy, and anything that contributes to more violence like that is problematic, and we want it to stop,” said Nicole Varma, a community organizer affiliated with Guns Down who is organizing the FedEx protest in Orlando. “We don’t want any other community to be affected by gun violence.”

I take it this Nicole is also against Islam and Muslims.

“One way we can do that is by pressuring businesses that help fuel the NRA’s blood money,” Lindsay said. “Companies should stand for their values, and if FedEx supports the lives of our children and the safety of our communities, they shouldn’t help subsidize the NRA killing industry.”

Being gay isn't supporting lives of children, it is the opposite. Not creating the lives in the first place.

Funny, reports I saw said the LGBT community started buying firearms and taking classes after Orlando.

This is a perfect example of the fact that just because somebody says they represent a community doesn't mean that they actually do. People say that Trump is anti gay while neglecting the fact that a key member of his transition team is openly gay. People try to portray the entire gay community as Democrat liberals and ignore the existence of groups like The Log Cabin Republicans, openly gay Republicans who were responsible for getting Don't Ask, Don't Tell abolished (even though the President took credit for that). I've been on this earth for over half a century and I've not come across a single purely homogenous group.
