I'm glad you're old enough to have never needed it and have every handgun you've ever wanted. Unfortunately the youth like me have never and will never have the chance. If you're born into this state you are complying whether you like it or not.

On a brighter note, this bill is arguably more egregious than the HQL with how many people it impacts. They're going after the things we already own rather than solely restricting new purchases. This is quite a big bite even for the MGA. There's a reason these sorts of proposals got tossed out in previous iterations.

How does this - or any firearm - registry make us safer? I don't get it. Maybe one of these legislators can explain it to me.

On that note: does anybody know if we have a registry of lawmakers yet? Like - where they live, what they do for hobbies, what their normal daily schedule is, where they work, what they invest in, etc.

I only ask because if registries are supposed to make us safer, wouldn't another registry like this make us even more safe?! Yay safety!

Now I know that doxxing government officials is illegal because of bullying. But this sure is a nice thought exercise, right? (Side note: giving information to the people of illegal - but bribing is okay. And bribing is especially okay from individuals out of state *cough*Bloomberg*cough*)

In summary: It's okay for the government to have all of your information, but you aren't allowed to have theirs!

Now I'm going to hit this "submit" button to prepare for my future in Maryland...

Personally I struggle on whether I should get the HQL. "Free men don't ask permission" - and there's still ways Maryland subjects can legally own a pistol without the HQL. I have to get fingerprinted for fed stuff anyway but being in MD's stupid registry would irk me. I hate the idea of accepting the criminal treatment required to get the license or even buy a pistol. I keep trying to explain that to my fudd coworker but he thinks government mandated training is the bees knees. At least he seems to agree these bills are vindictive...

Yeah, I remember the crowd that swore they'd never get an HQL, too.

Yeah, well I'm still holding out. There are millions of nice guns out there that are older that you are, and I like 'em.

I admit that sometimes it's tough to resist.

I think there are two schools of thought. One, I won’t do it on principle because it’s wrong. Two, I’m playing your game, and will continue to get what I want.

I have an HQL and have added some 20 handguns to my collection since 2013.

I held out for a bit, but ultimately the only older gun I want is the M1 Garand and never got into the older stuff, but I'm really loving the CZ handguns and I had my eye on a 1911 which prompted me to get the HQL a few years back.

The more people who get on the list the less it means. Theoretically, if everyone in the state were on the list, it would mean nothing at all; Harry Nilson's Pointed Man was the only character in his story without a point. Still another way to think of getting the HQL and use it, - is - as if it were signing up for a militia; which again in a big way it actually is. The bigger the armed camp, the more cautious one should be in attacking the camp or one of its members.

ETA: for clarity, I am only referring to obtaining the HQL, which in itself does not prove one owns any firearms, nor registers any firearms. I am against any and all firearms ownership registry.

Every time I'm reading through MDS and I start cussing about new proposed legislation, my wife calmly comes over and asks, "What are you buying now?".

When I got back from CA this weekend and told her about the "ghost gun" bill and my intended purchase of some parts kits, she said, "Honestly, I'm surprised it took you this long".

    I've got a good woman.

You sure do! I wish all wives were this forward thinking.

Most of the moderate Dems have left the building. Those who remain fully understand that if they like the free ride, they must follow the Party line. Otherwise, no funding, and if they do get re-elected, positions on powerful committees are not for them.

A lot of anti-gun stuff has been passed, but it easily could have been a lot worse. Small comfort there, but that's totalitarianism, Maryland-style. The plan on incrementing us to death, or driving us into the wilderness with their sins on our backs. They've weaponised the voters through the educational/media complex, and demonised us as the root source of conservative thought.

They learned the techniques developed in the 1920s and 1930s, and have expanded on them. They need villains to fight against, and it is us. It's beyond ironic to see that well over half of contemporary American Jewry is on their side, having forgotten, or never learned, the lessons taught to their forebears. Basically, all over the country, Dems are working to shift the mindset of the population to worship the Government as the source of all good, and the teachings and laws of the Government as holy scripture.

The Government knows what is good for you, and is making it mandatory.

Have you accepted The State as your Lord and Savior?

I think the tyrants have an end goal of dismantling our rights to lock themselves in power since they truly believe they are our masters..and here is their game plan.

They keep throwing anything and everything thing at us and WANT us to point out flaws to them since they don't know their a$$es from a hole in the ground. That way they can keep rewriting the BS with amendments or a new version for the next year. Then get us to proofread it yet again. They keep trying until they get something through that either appeases the FUDDs or they believe will take forever and a kings random in legal fees to challenge it in court. We HAVE slowed their progress, but until the radicals get totalitarianism, we aren't safe.

At the end of the day, law enforcement ordered to come to your door and take your firearms have some soul searching to do. Are they willing to kill otherwise peaceful Americans in order to take their defensive firearms because of a blatantly unconstitutional law made by hypocrites. If they choose to go forward with potentially killing to enforce this, the people need to decide what they do with that information.

We have already gotten the answer with enforcement of the Red Flag law here in MDstan. Most law enforcement will do the bidding of their masters. :sad20:

This bill is strictly taxing a right. Period.

Registering firearms that they already know I have, is taxing a right. They already know I have them, what more do they need?

Registering firearms they don't know I have is just stupid, because, I don't have them.

I do find it laughable that some are already filling out their paperwork. (No teratos, not you...referring to my earlier post about the radio show phone call, and...well...)

MGA = full retard = on to the 3rd box.

Fully agree that registering what they don't know you have (if people would actually do such a thing) is ridiculous. I look forward to the legal battle. I was thinking about this last night, as it was a thought that kept me awake. I think my first inclination was hasty. I don't think I should have to register squat, and will not.

Why does it seem that the COTUS only matters years down the road for new laws? "Checks and Balances" are for damages done? Given the fact that that a law may ban something, have the items collected and removed from existence, then once they are gone a court may step up and say "whoops". This would seem to say the Legislative branch has much more power than the Judicial. Who gets to request a stay on a passed bill?
