Hogan?!?!W
Awesome! Thanks for all the tips on how to get legal versions of the rifles I wanted. You guys rawk! (and gals if any)
And yeah I'm absolutely going to join MSI. They only just came onto my radar screen recently after Hogan gave back our carry rights (still keep thinking I'm either dreaming or slipped into a parallel universe on that one).
I wish I had found these forums years ago. Already love it here!
Hogan didn't give anybody a thing. Clarence Thomas did. Hogan was perfectly happy with the way things were.W

True, but he did instruct Md State Popo to stop denying applicants. If it had been a leftist in the governor's mansion, they'd have ignored the SC ruling or thrown up some other legal obstruction like they do in every other state. Is this not correct? I've been watching a lot of 2A advocacy channels on youtube the last couple years & that sounds about right to me.Hogan didn't give anybody a thing. Clarence Thomas did. I think people wanted Hogan to simply order state police to consider self-defense to be “good and substantial” long ago.True, but he did instruct Md State Popo to stop denying applicants. I'm going for my CCW as we speak & fully expect if I wait much longer I'll lose my chance. I desperately need it as I'm in an extremely dangerous line of work, one subject to constant robberies & carjackings. Being able to carry will lift a huge weight off my shoulders.

I want to buy several rifles prohibited by Maryland's "assault weapons" ban but, like many of you, am not permitted to do so. My question is as follows:
Am I allowed to purchase the prohibited guns outside of the state where it's not illegal & simply store them in a rented locker or will my MD driver's license & residency here force me to be bound by these stupid laws everywhere I go?
Asked my local gun shop owner this & he was stumped. I want a Garand, a Ruger Mini-14, a Ruger Mini-30, a whole slieu of AKs beside a Draco, & many other long guns now forbidden to me. I've wanted them for years & am sick & tired of being denied my 2A right to own them. I'm willing to store them in another state & periodically commute there to enjoy my rifles at a local range. The question I have is am I allowed to do this legally?
Any advice welcome, thanks!

That's not true. If the firearm (non-handgun) is legal in both states you can walk out the door with it.No out of state FFL will sell you a firearm and let you "walk out the door". You will have to ship to an in-state FFL which is where you will get into trouble with purchasing a banned MD rifle. The only way to do this legally is to change the law or to move to state where purchase and ownership is legal.
Adit is correct you can purchase long guns in adjacent states provided they are legal in your state of residence. No out of state FFL will sell you a firearm and let you "walk out the door". That brings up another thing I'm unclear on. If a person owns prohibited guns & moves here from out of state, they have to surrender those firearms before becoming a state resident? I'd have thought it would be legal. Sort of like guns grandfathered in or purchased prior to the ban.The simple answer to you being able to purchase prohibited firearms is to move to another state!
PS: If you want to keep those prohibited firearms, never come back!

You gotta get rid of them unless you have document that states ownership prior to 2013That brings up another thing I'm unclear on. "Adjacent" states is gone from the law as well. It is now "ANY" state.Adit is correct you can purchase long guns in adjacent states provided they are legal in your state of residence.
Or, outwardly pretend to do C, while quietly doing B, all the while planning to do A.Your options...
a) Move
b) view md's infringements as unconstitutional on their face and disregard them
c) follow md law.
I know plenty of non-MD FFLs who are willing to transfer legal long guns to MD residents to the full extent allowed by law.No out of state FFL will sell you a firearm and let you "walk out the door". You will have to ship to an in-state FFL which is where you will get into trouble with purchasing a banned MD rifle. Only handguns would need to go to a MD FFL.
