Well, you have to understand that the politicians don't want a 20 year veteran cop. They want the new guy that couldn't cut out before, who doesn't have the ability or training to police the right way. They want some woke liberal pansies that are afraid to go out and do the real work.

It's a win/win. They either get the neutered police department they want, or they get such a crappy police force that they can take it over (either by federal consent decree or a federal police force). So we understand the reality.

It's not a slap in the face for me, I understand the motivation. At this point, I'm just looking for warm bodies to pay into the pension system.

You can take your bonus money, I've got 38 months left in this awful career field.

Know anyone who joins the armed services or law enforcement, cause they have a death wish? Combat pay, if that is what this may equate to is no compensation for city revolving door justice. Even dumb ignorant crimnals can read name tags of officers.

Cops and robbers, have been portrayed in hollywood movies. The old characters have little bearing on the crime and punishment today. Corrupt DA's are getting bous payments far above these petty inticements. The stakes are high for LEO's and thier families. Out on the lawless streets of big cities in America today. How much is your life or limb worth to you?

Bodymore rulers don't allow the police to actually do their job. Why would anyone chose to be part of that police department?
It won't be long before Baltimourge rulers establish ROE for police that requires LEO to keep their side arms holstered and unloaded until they are fired upon.

This is how bad it's getting: https://wjla.com/news/local/crime-a...and-development-of-extraordinary-trainees-mpd

That bill is called the Compensation and Development of Extraordinary Trainees - or CADET - Amendment Act of 2023.

If passed, it would almost double the pay for cadets and expand the candidate pool by increasing the maximum cadet age from 24 to 33 years old.

Seeing this contemptible person go from "defund the police" to "fund the police" by increasing cadet pay/eligibility is surreal.....
Her decriminalization of street vending wasn’t a bad idea but overall she’s a doof. There was a social media attempt to recall her but it gained no traction. The business owner who started the trend looked like a solid dude in my eyes but I think it died.

Also back to your previous post about experienced officers. MPD has a “mobility program” (viewable publicly online). Essentially officers can request to go to a different district. EOTR officers probably make up the majority of the transfers but I don’t know that to be fact. There by the more experienced officers get sent to calmer areas. In todays day and age where incidental neck touching could land you in jail during a use of force, I imagine a large population of officers would prefer to patrol areas where the chance of a use of force are much slimmer (that’s just self preservation).

Don’t look for things to improve either. Morale in most PDs in major cities is low. The police forums are rifled with disgruntled officers telling their stories and why you shouldn’t apply for department XYZ. Sure that 25K bonus is nice but is it worth a criminal charge and being fired?

It’s currently an interesting career field because what we are doing recently isn’t working. Throwing money at the problem is nice but to be honest 95% of applicants have probably wanted to be cops since they were 10. They want to help and be comfortable financially but know a Bentley isn’t in their future. If they are hearing they can’t be comfortable/secure in their chosen profession they will find a new one. Cops are a dime a dozen no specialized degree needed and once one of us they replace them.

Male police officers in extremist democrat hate cop cities need to learn to utilize medical leave for menstrual symptoms whenever they need a day off.

Very interesting info. Appreciate you sharing sir.

I completely agree with you. This isn't going to get better anytime soon.

Given that the DC rulers have made it crime to enforce the law, why would anyone join the DC PD?

So that’s not exactly the truth but sure feels that way on occasion. What I will say is if you follow the local news outlets on twitter (real-time, killmoe, MoCoPG) it sure looks like PG a catching a lot of the cross border carjackers.

That said I know a few of the DC carjacking detectives, very sharp folks and great leadership!

I think I was accidentally quoted here, but I'm glad to hear PG is catching a lot of people. Also, I'm glad to hear that the DC carjacking detectives are top notch. I wish there were more of them....
