I’m not sure, but I’d get one if they made it in their steel framed version, 10mm in a lightweight plastic pistol might be a bit unwieldy.
The plastic might make it more wieldy. Did you mean more stable with a heavier pistol?
But seriously are there metal framed M&Ps?

G20 is the way to go for a 10mm woods gun. Mine has been flawless performance-wise. There is a lot to say about the capacity advantage over a 1911 as well.

Yep - the M&P Metal. They rolled this out a bit after the CSX, which was another aluminum framed pistol that they put out within the last few years.

I carry a Ruger GP100 match master in a chest rig daily. Very good revolver. I have a G20 as well.

Oh, that Delta Elite looks purdy.

    This.

Also, be very choosy about the 10mm ammo you get. Most factory 10mm isn't loaded to 10mm power.

Can you expound on this a bit? Links? I did a search, but there's nothing specific on what loads (that I could find).

Sure! Paul Harrell said it better than I could in one of his videos:

The jist is that a LOT of factory 10mm is loaded to the same power and speed levels as .40s&w. Which is a waste. Most of the cheapest options for 10mm are this way, as well as some premium brands.

Unfortunately much of this is simply looking at the load data on factory 10mm. Underwood and Buffalo Bore both make "full power" 10mm. (there are other mfrs that do as well)

My preference is Underwood 155gr that makes 775ft-lbs of m.e. and is safe in factory original 10mm Delta Elites (with squared fp stop and higher weight hammer spring).

Thanks! I had to edit my earlier comment to replace ‘stone’ with ‘stable’. Damn auto spell

Or to more broadly address :

Factory 10mm a.mo falls into three classes - mild , " mainstream full power " , and boutique hunting loads .

Even the mild is upper end of .40 S&W , current mainstream full power , think 180 in 1200's .

    Excellent. Thanks.

I have a huge surplus of .40 in both ball and HP. I've been thinking of a 1911 in .40 just to shoot it all, but I'd really rather just get a 10mm. This is some really good info.

There are a couple considerations for 10mm. If you want the most power that can fit in a mag, Sig X10 or Glock 20/40. If you want something more classy, then a single stack P220 or 1911. Ammo varies wildly, hot Underwood or handloads are impressive. One thing the 10 doesn't get enough love for is how soft and mild it can be with commercial loads. A 180gr under 1k FPS is still plenty of power, but it runs at a fairly low pressure, and with large grips and spring rates for hot loads it has less blast and recoil than most 9mm pistols. Also look into 45 super/450SMC in many ways it's, more practical in single stacks, many pistols can Handle it out of the box or with minimal changes, and can match 10mm's range with light 45 up to full power loads

Delta Elite and full power loads are not enjoyable. I hate testing them. I won't own guns I don't want to shoot. If your an older dude, good luck with a Delta. It's a neat gun that sometimes needs work to run well.

Full size Glock is much more manageable to shoot with full power 10mm. Boring to look at and boringly reliable. They are even more tame when ported.

Can't say anything about a CZ 10mm because I haven't worked on one. Depending on the model, a CZ can be more complex compared to a Glock and I don't want that out in the woods.

Couldn't pay me to own a Sig.

We will just have to agree to disagree. Is the anti-sig thing an engineering, ascetic, or company policy complaint?

As far as full power in a Delta: yeah, a beavertail grip safety and commander hammer is a must

I have heard and experienced different opinions in shooting .40s out of 10s. I know guys who shoot .40s out of their 10s a lot with no complaints. I know guys who say never do this.

Anyone want to chime in? yea/nay.

The naysayers , are speaking in the abstract that it would place greater stress on the extractor , and potential build up Ala. 38s in a .357 .

The people who actually do it clean their bbls , and report any premature issues with extractors are very slow onset , rounding off to negligible.

An Actual Delta Elite does have Commander hammer and suitable grip safety.

With actual Nuclear level loads in 10mm , rapid fire is essentially off table anyway .

Approaching it from a big bore Magunum revolver context , 220 plus grain at 1200 plus fps from Delta isn't painful or unduly punishing .
