My Model 17 is a 1958 vintage. When I got it, the barrel was severely leaded and after I cleaned out the lead, I found the cylinder alignment was pretty bad. I sent it to the factory. Rather than weld up and recut the locking notches, I opted for a new cylinder. It now shoots beautifully, and...
I took my AR pistol and rebuilt it into a .350 Legend rifle shortly after I heard that MD was one of the states who now allow straight walled rifle cartridges for deer in previously shotgun only counties. I used a Wilson barrel and AeroPrecision upper and lower. For paper, I have been loading...
I tend to buy the mid power Forster slug stuff on price, although I don't remember what the price was. I usually use Remington Foster slugs and Fiocchi slugs. They are both very accurate in my smooth bore antique guns, Remington Model 11 and Browning A-5, both of which have LPA rear sights and...
Don't know any gunsmiths who might look at your 39's, but on the 39A there is what Marlin calls a cartridge guide spring; it is a piece of flat spring steel, mounted in the receiver just aft of the chamber, held in place by a screw through the top of the receiver. You might want to take a look...
The AR-15 is MIL-SPEC so parts from different manufacturers play well together. The AR308 has at least two different, incompatible standards, Armalite and DPMS. You might want to check that.
Mine are DPMS spec. I have adjustable gas blocks and 5.5 oz Heavy Buffer buffers. They seem to work great.
I bought a used 229 in .40 and went with the SIG exchange kit with 9mm barrel and slide to make the conversion. Works great. .40 is ok, but much more expensive to shoot on the range. Just for fun, I got a .357 SIG barrel for it. That stuff shoots like a laser, more accurate than either the .40...
If I were buying a Benelli, I would probably go with the M-2, based on price and features. The M-4 looks nice, but out of my price range.
Since I don't have the money available, I built my own on a Remington Model 11. It has a 24" barrel with choke tubes, LPA rifle sights and a 10 shot extended...
My safety on my Auto 5 is definitely on the right, but the checkering on the curved edge tore up my trigger finger, so I took it apart and used a Dremel to smooth up the first row of the checkering. Not it is perfect.
