Lots of them have built in Temp regulating heater pads for winter use.
Lithium Ion is generally limited to 2 C-- LiFePO4 is usually good to 3-10C or More for the A123 Brand Nano Phosphate.
Not saying is worth it just yet but looks like the future is Low Lead for sure.
the lithiums now are a little better. they are designed to be lead acid 12V replacements. Most chargers output 14.4V Max or less and for 48V its usually 57.6V or less. The lithiums would like 14.6V for 100% charge so 58.4V. So your 48V charger should be ok on 4 lithium batteries.

Do you know if offset wheels are needed for bigger tires/lift? Not sure if there is enough room on the factory Zero offset rims in the back to go from 18x8.5-8 to 22x11-8 tires and not rub on the wheel tubs.
BTW--looks like out of a 400W array mounted on the roof will net closer to 200W...
I got the HiQ batteries from ebay. $259 each shipped. they are made by TOBATTERY. They say they have low temp charge protection. I'll test them for capacity and temp when they get here in a few days.
They are 9x8x7" which makes them the smallest I've seen and it looks like I could fit 8 of...
Bought a Golf cart 48V Yamaha for a project with my 10 year old son. Decided to ground up build it with the intent of using it as our transport vehicle around our place in WV to reduce our dependence on Gasoline.
Plan in motion:
1. Replace the 80lb lead acid batteries which are junk with 4x...
I think its all great stuff here. I'm just glad as at 1,500 calories a day I know what I need to eat to maintain my current weight.
I'm sure when it comes down to it I could do more to get back into my 32 waist jeans!
In all seriousness when the SHTF I feel like we have a better...
Been lots of talk about calories. In General the thought is if you don't get 2,000 a day you'll lose weight. Well that's only been kind of true. My wife and I started to count everything we ate and found we were over 2,000/day. I started at 228lbs and she was 160. we both set a limit of...
Like most of you, I live within 20 radial miles of the biggest target on the planet.
In the event of sabre rattling becomes a tripped trigger, when will you leave?
Just provoking thoughts.
Also have you figured out how to haul everything you have/need?
You always think you are prepared...
Thanks for all the feedback everyone.
USMC taught me how to keep someone alive until help arrived but that's about it. I'm not a Corpsman, Medic or 18D but I know a few. Dad's a Paramedic, put my first wife through nursing school and stayed at a Holiday inn last night to be safe.
In all...
Recently had an accident at our getaway place and everything turned out just fine.
However, it got me thinking about what would happen if driving 1.5 hours to the nearest hospital with trauma center was not an option?
Started building a trauma kit. Trying to keep in mind an accident like...
