      Public Hunting in Virginia (WMAs)

Fubrit, that's the best news I've heard all week! Thanks so much for responding. I'm going to look more into Phelps and maybe go do a little exploring this weekend.

      Public Hunting in Virginia (WMAs)

I'm spending some time in northern Virginia and am considering buying a Virginia non-resident hunting license this year. What are the best WMAs to check out? One reason I'm interested in the possibility of hunting in Virginia is that Maryland's public hunting lands are incredibly...

      Rifle Range close to MD?

What are some other good places besides the NRA museum? I'd like to site in a .22 rifle at 100 yard range.

      Ted Nugent and Michael Pollan

Hahaha maybe so. I'm definitely somewhere in between. I've read all of Pollan's books. He's an amazing writer, not exactly an in-person rock and roller like the Noog

      Ted Nugent and Michael Pollan

Watch these two videos back-to-back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXUI5hAxFYI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dka7zU_30dE http://hunter-gatherer.com/blog/michael-pollan-vs-ted-nugent-hunting --then read the Cave Man's take on it all. He's right on. Cheers and good eating.

      Late Goose Season Starts!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qG400fF_eM --little video my buddy made. I'm effing em up in the first dock scene (nailed that first one that falls). We were on private land in Saint Michael's. Absolutely glorious! Day's trophies:

      Geese/Goose

Safeway almost always has frozen geese, but they are like $10/pound. You might as well eat wild seafood for that price.

      Registration

Extreme influx of population to the Bay watershed. It's been increasing year after year. Effective management is going to be more and more crucial. http://www.chesapeakebay.net/news_population2006.aspx It is what it is.

      Rabbit Hunting on Public Land?

In the border brush of those fields that you can access by parking along Hipsley Mill Road.

WHERE CAN I HUNT! PLEASE HELP!!

The best thing to do is probably to contact a DNR office. I was thinking of doing the same thing. As I understand it, as long as your neighbors aren't within either 150 or 300 yards (I forgot if they changed the bow hunting distance with the shotgun distance last year), then you should be good...

      Rabbit Hunting on Public Land?

I've come across guys with beagles at Patuxent Park three or four times this year. A few times I ran into them on their way out. They were unsuccessful each time.

      Frustration with this season...just venting

My advice: Go to Montgomery County. Seriously. Anywhere from 10-20 deer pass through my backyard daily. Big ones, small ones, males and females. It's unreal. They have absolutely no fear of humans either.

WHERE CAN I HUNT! PLEASE HELP!!

http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/western/fcw.html http://www.dnr.state.md.us/outdooradventures/hunt2cfalls.html Here are those two spots. Thanks for the tip. I have been reading up on suburban hunting in Montgomery County. It sounds like archery--including crossbows-- is allowed as...

      Late Goose Season Starts!

Haha Janet is a tough lady. I had to set her down because the geese were crippled and I had to dispatch them using both hands moments before that photo was taken. I tried getting another photo of me holding the gun but tragically my camera battery died! The first one tasted great. I'll be...
