Do a search for Brian Pearce 44 Special.
Be careful that those hot loads do not find their way to the weaker 44 Special revolvers.
I have owned numerous 44 Special revolvers from S&W, Colt, Ruger, Charter Arms and Taurus over the years. It is an excellent revolver cartridge.
The Skeeter...
Here is what I use for the 300 Blackout. The 300 Blackout is the most fussy cartridge I ever loaded for.
RCBS Small Base sizer with sizer ball removed and replaced with a decap only rod
Lyman "M" die
Hornady seater die with sliding guide
Lee Factory Crimp Collet type crimper set for a...

300 Blackout. Also good for PEW, PEW. Very quiet and designed for subsonic range of 200 meters.

The S&W Models 13 and 65 come to mind. Some were made with underlugs, IIRC.
3 inch barrel is about right for a carry revolver. I have had a 3 inch S&W M64 since 1982.
The 3 inch S&W M13 was once the issue revolver for the FBI.
It does seem the 3 inchers cost more these days.
