There is a Swiss made powder called Schuetzen. It is more expensive than GOEX but since the GOEX plant has been down since last summer when the plant was damaged in an explosion, you might be able to find it. I use 3F in my flintlock for the primer charge and it works just fine.
I have a full length (16") m1905 dated 1906 that I got from CMP when they had all of the Greek returned rifles and bayonets. Mine still has the wood handle on it. But has a latter sheath.
Someone was collecting unit IDs from Gew88s back when the Ecuadorian 88s hit the market around 2005. I will see if I can find it on the Way Back Machine. It was pretty interesting to see the number and variety of units who were equipped with them at some point.
Air horns work to startle dogs and make them leave. I keep a couple small air horns around all the time. And when taking my little dogs for a walk, I carry an air horn.
