:lol2: relax guys I'm just passing along prices. I only grabbed a tapco just to have one. I mean you go out and buy an AK you gotta have a 30rd for it! I plan on ordering some steel rebuilds from 44mag then taking a 10 minute detour on the way to Deep Creek to slap them together.
I'm not saying the American barrels are on the same level. Yes it is widely accepted that chrome lining improves barrel life. I'm saying that just because an AK lacks a CLB doesn't mean its only use is as a range toy.
The Commies aren't using their rifles in the same way as most gun owning...
Some people :innocent0, consider spending 3 hours to monkey off an AK buttstock the peak of their mechanical prowess and aren't gonna sink $450 on a half converted rifle because "that guy" on the forums says he'll help for parts and beer. :lol2:
I'll take the barrel life argument but to suggest that AK barrels without chrome lining shouldn't be counted on for more than plinking is nonsense. I'd put money that those inferior century AKs would be floating around in working condition for a lot longer than they should if SHTF. If I'm wrong...
Thanks for the help guys. I spent 2 hours last night trying to dig that info up. Its just what I was looking for.
I know I know, Century has a terrible rep but I had a chance to fondle it in the store. To me, the fit and finnish wasn't any different then the other AKs and the front sight was...
So I was thinking of buying one of these.

From my understanding, only the handguards and stocks have fitting issues with stamped v. milled.
Does anyone know how much work is involved fitting furniture that was intended for stamped...
Just a little warning I wanna pass on to you guys, the greenish blue box of .308 Winchester they sell for $15 a box at the gun shack is corrosive stuff made in Czechoslovakia in the 80s. I just got finished detailing my PTR with industrial windex after a guy at Cresap gave me a heads up. I...
About a year ago I called Atlantic and asked if they would order me a Pardner Protector (Rem. 870 clone). A week later I called to check in on the status and they "hadn't gotten to it yet." I told them to forget it and just ordered an 870 off Gun Genie.
I've given them a few chances since...
First day I shot the steel cased stuff with everything else and cleaned it when I got home.
Yesterday had the hiccups on the Winchester.
After getting the casing unstuck I shot the rest of the steel cased with no issues.
the crappy looking gray part isn't nearly as bad in person. I was...
:lol2: I'm in the middle of it right now
The manual + PTR's site all have it listed as .308 but I have heard about getting a broken case extractor I'll grab one next time I order something from midway. The casing was not broken tho, seems to be something went wrong with the extractor as it was...
So I took my PTR 91 out to Cresap for the 2nd time yesterday.(I suppose this is a kind of a range report, but I can't say much for accuracy type stuff cause I'm one of those dudes that just shoots the target to hell. I do think it is shooting left though I'll deal with that next time)
First...
Its not really about access to the water cooler, thats just what opened up the can of worms. Its the attitude by some that these members are bad because they do not post a lot. There are other ways of contributing besides posting your opinions all over the board. There should be nothing wrong...
