Pretty much what everyone else has stated... no? What exactly needs to be hidden anyway, transparency is far more powerful here. We've got nothing to hide here or statistics to mask us with, that's for others.
Surprised this thread is still going, but I'll add to it yet again. I can see a place for a DE, but in the case of the OP certainly not before owning a 1911. The DE, honestly, is a pretty fun range toy... but I wouldn't go beyond that. It's really expensive (read: twice a good 1911), and can...
Relative term is relative. What's a fast car? A Mustang is a fast car, but is it like a Ferrari? Nope. Unless the term is actually defined, "A high powered assault rifle is ______________." than it's just a tool designed to create wedges and scare people.
Is a Barrett 50 cal "high-powered"...
Talk about getting a new one ripped open!! Seriously though, this is a prime example of a rational, calm, logical way to counter the anti arguments. If only we could see this much more often instead of things like the Alex Jones vs Piers Morgan style conversations that don't help the cause...
In the right neighborhood at least. Not a reference to that slogan per say, but simply the core term itself, Gyokusai (玉砕) - honorable suicide; noble death. As in the Banzai charge or Kamikaze attack for example, performed as an expression of the Bushido code of the Samurai.
Indeed. Must have missed that link under Community. Certainly a decent sized member base, of course I'm sure all 16k aren't active or around, but that's a solid subscription to date nonetheless.
Curious, and forgive me if this is actually posted somewhere and I missed it. Do we have and published metrics/demographics of the MDS community, like how many members and whatnot? I joined a month ago and seems to be quite the active community, glad I found this little corner of the internet...
If you want a true Ruger BX-25 (which you do I'm sure), they're going to be neigh impossible to find and you'll likely have to wait for the back orders to start being fulfilled. That, and obviously having a friend or shop outside MD to get them from. Good luck!!! :party29:
Just about as much right to determine what car I drive... ie: no, up to a certain limit. The question has always been, what is that limit? IMHO all the stuff in these AWB or mag cap limits are nuts, but I'll concede that perhaps we don't have the right to own an RPG. Got to love defining gray...
I'll admit, that's the one gripe I do have with the Glock 22. Like I said, it isn't my favorite by any means. It was one of my earlier handguns a ways back and perhaps it's just gotten too comfortable in my collection if I start defending it lol.
Great analogy, funny one actually as I was an...
Curious, do you just not like the caliber or is there something specific about a glock in 40SW? It's not my favorite, but I have a Glock 22 in my collection and find it fairly decent. But that's just my opinion, we all have our own preferences. :)
Ok, that's a valid point... touche. As far as the "40 sucks" argument, I don't buy that at all. I'm not saying I favor 40 over 45, but assuming we're comparing good loads on both the extra capacity you get on the 40 certainly has something going for it, that's all. Just an observation/thought...
Eyes of the beholder. That said, with so many black/blued guns in a collection, seeing a chrome toy is a nice change of scenery every once in a while. ;)
Yay! That means I should expect to see mine in soon. Honestly, I wonder how many people are ordering 5 at a time then turning around and selling them on Gunbroker or something... making those of us just wait that much longer due to their greed.
Interesting observation, why the lack of love for .40SW? For a combat handgun, the ballstics generally favor it over 45ACP (more velocity and energy, generally, not always). That, and the ability to usually pack more per mag make me wonder why it's not often on these lists. I agree with many of...
45 ACP = 230gr, 900fps velocity, 560J energy
44 MAG = 340gr, 1300fps velocity, 2070J energy
So, you get what you pay for... question is, what ballistics are you looking for in your gun.
I think the real question is what is this gun for? The 1911 and DE are pretty different platforms. I actually like them both a lot, but for very different reasons.
1911 - typically referred to as the gold standard of handguns, very proven classic design that's been around for quite a long...
Hi Grumbler. I hear you, many local shops are quite tied up with other paperwork and I've gotten a few to reject taking on any new transfers. If you're in MoCo, I'd highly recommend Engage Armament - great crew and they'll offer a discount for MDS members (check them out in the industry partners...
