Just won a Vz. 50 at auction. It has a proof mark of 1950, and appears in excellent factory condition - not refurbed at all... except... from my reading on these handguns, it appears that this particular one comes with Vz. 70 grips. They're pimpled instead of grooved. My thoughts are to pick...

“He had no idea what he was shooting at. I got shot twice and I had to yell profanities to get this person to stop,”
Man, this guy was lucky. There are three points that I take from this...
From the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR):

Nothing particularly shocking here, but it got me thinking:
Does anyone here, particularly those involved in casting/reloading, ever get tested for lead...
All, I finally got to take my R1 out to the range. Nice gun, far more accurate than me. Out of 50 rds, I got five on a 1" bullseye at 25 ft... ft, not yds. All the rest were on my paper plate target. That's pretty good for me.
Anyway, the sharp metal base plate was scraping my right hand...

OK, so some yahoos decided it would be fun to shoot up an abandoned car from a low flying helicopter. There are just so many things they did wrong here...
I follow the news back home in RI, and this story caught my eye. Just wanted to see what opinions were here in MD on this type of situation.

I have read quite a few others on here, and I narrowed down my selection to the following (no particular order):
R1 - blued finish
RIA GI model - fixed sights
Ruger SR1911 - top of price range
First off, I'm pretty much a noob (less than a year as gun owner). I have been shooting a...
Interesting article on the vagaries of the RI concealed carry permit process, and an exercise in "shall" vs. "may." I'm originally from RI, so I read the local papers (online, of course). I have a few relatives with whom I converse about these types of issues. I tell them, "Trust me, RI is...
I was thinking about this last night. Gun manufacturers, in order to market certain handguns in MD, will soon need to decrease the magazine capacity to 10 rounds or less. It seems to me that the easiest way for a manufacturer to restrict magazine capacity in order to be MD compliant is to use...
I was at the range this past weekend with a new Sig 1911-22. I wanted a plinker that could serve as a 1911 trainer as well. I had read that there is a bit of a break-in period with this particular firearm. I was using Remington Golden Bullets, 36 g, hollow point, 1280 fps. I figured it...
Or just a sign that people are worn out by the ridiculous prices?
I just received a shipment of 17-round mags for my SR9c from Ruger. I placed the order on 02 MAR 2013, and it arrived on 24 APR 2013. When I ordered them, the same magazines were going for upwards of $80 on Gun Broker (GB)...
Hello,
I am a new member to the forums, and also a new gun owner. I have been reading the forums anonymously over the past two months as a means of learning about ownership in MD. This site has been very helpful in terms of getting the lay of the land. Looking forward to participating...
