For future reference, RRomig was exactly correct. Apparently, the MSP does not consider handguns with barrels of 16” or longer as regulated and therefore do not require a 77R, but they still have to go through the MD NICS Check. I guess in a way, at least according to the MSP and it’s...
Thanks for this response. I’m sorry, but I’m completely unfamiliar with the system used for this. It sounds like you are saying that the pistol should be able to be purchased and transferred in MD, but that there’s just something a bit different that is required (“consignment return”) in order...
When the FFL attempts to add the barrel length to the MD online system for transfer (sorry… not sure what to call it), the system spits it out as banned. Other barrel lengths “work”… just not the 16”.
I don’t mean to start a whole new “assault pistol” rant/thread, but I’m confused as to why a GHM9 with a 16” barrel is banned as an “assault pistol” according to my local FFL and cannot be purchased in MD, even though the GHM9 is on the approved handgun list. My FFL could not explain what makes...
I know that there has been about a million discussions of this HBAR business in the past 5 years, so I do to want to start yet another diacussion on that. I guess the bottom line is that if this is advertised as a heavy barrel by the manufacturer, it must be OK. I guess I’m getting the LE6920...
That’s what I thought, too... but if you check the MSP web site, it looks like somebody asked for a review and on 2/28/2018 the MSP decided that even though the Colt LE6920 SOCOM is (presumably) an HBAR, it’s now banned as a copy... unless I’m somehow reading that wrong...
Nice job, Decoy! This looks really well done. So... I’ll bite. How did you manage to modify the Gen 2 stock so that it doesn’t look like you cut it with a hack saw?
OK, great! Thanks to everyone for the links and discussion... I do appreciate the feedback. This is exactly the kind of information that I was looking for!
I know that the 9mm UZI carbine is banned by statute, but the banned list doesn't say anything about other calibers... and the carbines do seem to meet the other MD restrictions (such OAL), but maybe I missed something. I have asked my local FFL dealer and he does not know of any reason why an...
Thanks for the response. No, I have an HQL... my concern was that because it is a "complete" pistol lower that it is somehow controlled by the Handgun list or otherwise banned. But from the responses, it would appear that basically this is equivalent to a stripped lower, so it's legal.
I have searched the forums and found a few posts about this, but I'm not confident that I know the answer. I asked my FFL and he wasn't sure.
Does anybody know if a complete AR-15 pistol lower (that is, it has a Phase 5 pistol tube attached to a complete (LPK and trigger) lower) is legal for...
Thanks and Join MSI!
Hello everyone and thanks for the welcome messages.
I saw that MSI had filed their HQL lawsuit yesterday and although I have contributed to MSI in the past, I had never joined. But seeing this and reading the lawsuit made me realize how important the continuing fight to...
Hello everyone from Ellicott City. I have been lurking on MDS for quite a while and it has certainly been very informative. I guess I learn more when my ears are open and my mouth is closed, so I'm probably not going to be a prolific poster, but I figured that I should at least post something...
