      What's your favorite/recommended .22 handgun?

Hey everyone, thanks for the advice so far! Seems to be lots of love for Rugers here. Unfortunately I took a look at a "how to disassemble and reassemble" video and.... Dear Lord. Guess I've got lots to learn! And yes, I did mention this in my intro post a couple days ago, but thought I...

      What's your favorite/recommended .22 handgun?

Hi y'all, I'm a 24 year old guy in Silver Spring, MD, currently going through the steps to get my HQL, undergo firearm/safety training, and make my first handgun purchase. I decided on a .22 handgun because I have next to no experience and have a relatively small and light frame. I know...

Thought I'd say hi - 24, looking for first gun!

So I've got my HQL class next Wednesday, then I need to get printed (with a Live Scan) and THEN I apply for the HQL online? Can anyone tell me if that's right?

I just meant things like single vs double action. The same kind of "complex" that would make a revolver simpler than a pistol - that's all. More of an understanding thing I guess.

I've been reading lots about pieces like the SR22 , or more "standard" designs. Those do seem a lot more complex though, especially for rookie level.

Thought I'd say hi - 24, looking for first gun!

You, sir, are awesome. Thank you for the advice - means I have a lot more research to do still! I live in Silver Spring, MD - not exactly full of options here in Montgomery County. I am heading to Maryland Small Arms Range on the 22nd for my HQL class, and am planning on stopping by United...

That's another model I was looking at. However, having a hard time telling the differences between the Camper and the 22/45 - they look to be the same general design and have many of the same features (single action, 5"+ barrel, not finnicky with ammo). I take it you love your Browning?

Wow, overwhelmed at the helpfulness in less than 12 hours. From the sounds of it, a Ruger MKIII or 22/45 seems to be the best "bang for my buck" in terms of ease of use, reliability, and performance. The range I am planning to take my HQL class at does allow rentals of a couple of .22s (Sig...

Thought I'd say hi - 24, looking for first gun!

I'll be sure to check out MSI! So it's going to be $20 for the HQL class, $50 for the application, and how much for fingerprints? (I live in Silver Spring if that helps - I assume that only makes it tougher!). I've heard anywhere from $18-$70, but I think I might feel a bit odd walking into...

Target barrel necessary? Can I go with a Standard?

Hot damn, look at all the replies! Hey fellas. Thanks for your tips - signed up for an HQL training course on Wed, 1/22 at 6 pm at Maryland Small Arms Range for $20 - also includes live practice! Then it's fingerprints, apply, and wait (I hear, from most of you, it takes either no time at...

Thought I'd say hi - 24, looking for first gun!

Yeah, definitely going to head to a local range that allows rentals and try out a few models. However, there are only select models at each location I find. Have heard really good things about Rugers, especially as a training gun like this would be for me. Apparently pretty accepting of...

Thought I'd say hi - 24, looking for first gun!

Hey all, thought I would stop by this section and introduce myself. I'm a 24 year old guy living in Silver Spring, MD. I work part time as a marketing professional, and attend graduate school part time. I have absolutely no experience with firearms aside from the occasional rifle class at...
