1911 mags 8 round vs 7 round
2 A.C.T. 8 round mags came with my 1911 and are worthless. the follower does not maintain the proper upward angle allowing the round to nose dive perpendicular to the feed ramp. Guaranteed jam every time. Wilson 47D and Mec Gar have never jammed once. [Mec Gar is a few $$ cheaper] -

I got in on the group buy a year or so back for the RIA 1911 Tactical. Comes with better / more pronounced sights than the GI and an extended Ambi-thumb safety. It's also an 8 round mag. Not much more than the GI model. Runs perfectly with decent mags in it. Wilson 47D or Mec-gar is what I use... -

I went Saturday morning with a friend from work. Chanced upon a Mec Gar +2 mag for my CZ 75 for $30 and a $9 holster for the S&W Mod 64 I bought in the group buy. Just something to cover it in the range bag. Small show but I liked it - mostly guns and related items. Not a lot of junk in the way... -

The sights on the RIA GI model are too small to see clearly with my old eyes. I like the sights on the RIA Tactical model a lot more. (last year's group buy on MD Shooters) I only holster it at the gun club range I use and it gets very heavy very fast. As others have said smaller and lighter... -

1911 Magazines
My RIA 1911 from last year's group buy jammed constantly with the ACT mags that came with it. Even after a trip back to the factory. Using the specified 230gr. ball ammo from Winchester and Federal. Borrowed a friend's Wilson Combat 47D mag and problem solved. Feeds hollow points as well... -

RIA 1911 problems
All, I got to try my friends Wilson Combat mag at Elk Neck after work tonight and it worked fine using Federal Bulk pack stuff, which is what jammed the most. Ran better than 50 rounds tonight, feeding and shooting the top round only. The few fail to feed issues tonight were with the slide... -

Don't know about the slide catch causing the feeding problem. The catch works fine as far as I can tell. At least it catches the slide like it should. I did get a Wilson Combat mag from my buddy at work so I'll try that approach as soon as I can - sometime this week for sure. If that doesn't... -
