      357 Magnum versus 38 Special

Just my two cents... The hands-down, best defense in the home is a shotgun. They have surveyed criminals and they universally say the sound of a pump being racked deters them more than knowing a pistol is in the house. A novice shooter should NEVER carry a firearm they are not fully confident...

Shooting fox vermin on our farm?

Do not relocate… It is highly illegal in MD to trap and relocate fox, raccoon or skunk… regardless of season or nuisance permit. MD criminal law and civil code is very specific about this. Our neighborhood has a serious fox problem and well-intentioned neighbors are giving out profoundly...

Which MD gun shows are worth going to?

When I got back in June from 3 years in Korea I went to a gun show near my father in N.C. and was very disappointed. I get that we are all in a supply shortage... but it really was a shell of what I was used to seeing at N.C. shows. Which of the shows in MD are traditionally worth going to...

      Moving targets

I would like to practice on some moving targets. Does AGC (or any other ranges) have any way to set up a swinging or rolling target? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

      AR upper question

I was under the impression that the HK system is very reliable, and because it does not vent the gasses into the receiver it is much cleaner and thus less susceptible to carbon fouling/stoppages. I've not had any experience with them... just exploring options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

      AR upper question

The document published by the state that outlines banned guns clearly states clearly that the HK MR556A1 was not an AR-15 because the bolts are not interchangeable due to it being a piston driven system. My question is... because they don't classify it as an AR-15 is it required to have the...

      AR upper question

Can someone clarify an AR question? Under the MD law an AR-15 must have an HBAR. But I started reading the specific code and list of banned/allowed weapons. The list specifically stated that the state made the determination that an HK MR556A1 was not an AR-15 because it is a gas piston design...

SBR or other classified firearm in MD

That's the whole crux of my query. I am considering a HBAR/SBR. As long as its 29" I assume that I can do a "80%" receiver and put the requisite hardware on it in MD to achieve the 29" required by MD. Once I move to a more reasonable state it should be as easy as filing the paperwork with the...

SBR or other classified firearm in MD

SBR or other classified firearm in MD

The best advice is to get it in writing from the guys that would jam you up. I don't have a SBR... but have thought about it. That I know is federally regulated and any state has to be notified of possession. My biggest concern is for any other "regular" firearm already in legal possession...

SBR or other classified firearm in MD

What are you making that determination on? The MDSP website states "As part of the Firearms Safety Act of 2013 effective October 1, 2013, a person who moves into Maryland with the INTENT OF BECOMING A RESIDENT shall register all regulated firearms with the Secretary of the Maryland Department of...

SBR or other classified firearm in MD

What is MD's position on an active duty service member that wants to bring a legally owned SBR or other "tax stamped" firearm? There are enough of us coming and going (on military orders) that may have firearms that would otherwise be banned in MD. The way I read the law... it's about the...

      Target idea question

Great point. I'm trying to dial in a Encore 30-06... Off a shaky bench rest I'm already grouping at 1/2 inch at 50 yards. I just remembered that as a kid I used to make origami water balloons. I'm betting that I could make a few of those and add an am out of chalk dust inside it instead of...

      Target idea question

Lowes and the likes sells large bottles of chalk line powder that could be used for a visual "report" of a hit. BTW, the chalk your talking about is part of an Hindu religious festival, not a Bollywood movie effect. That's like saying that the Hollywood bread you see Christians eat in church on...

      Target idea question

I've seen a few people suggest using stuffed animals for targets (but not the bean bag material kind because of cleanup issues). Has anyone experimented with adding a good bit of colored marking chalk to the stuffing so when it's hit it gives off a good bit of colored chalk dust? This seems...

New FN Seemingly Made To Anger Liberals

Gas valve That is the gas valve. Is it where the gas bleeds off from the barrel and is redirected back to operate the gas piston. On a military weapon it is adjustable and controls the rate of automatic fire. I carried one of these for some time as a SAW gunner at Fort Bragg.
