      Are SBR's legal in MD?

... slightly related, my form 1's have been disapproved twice by the ATF trying to convert my pistol to an SBR even though the OAL is greater than 29" in reality but not on paper. (Side note: I wish the Form 1 would let you specify OAL and not simply barrel length to prevent a presumed OAL) If...

      AR-9 Uppers....

CMMG is what I'm settling on. I tried nine ways to Sunday to come up with the components to make the Banshee Mk17 an MD compliant SBR (OAL >= 29"). I couldn't make it work without making mods I didn't want (e.g. MOE SL stock) so I bailed. i'm going for CMMG's Resolute offering in 9mm instead. I...

      AR-9 Uppers....

I just got notification from Aero Precision yesterday on their PCC offering. Right now, they're saying 3/3/21. https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/epc

MD laws when making an SBR

Based on further investigation, I think it was the theoretical OAL based on the barrel length and, as you point out, standard AR parts. How do I give the ATF more info on a Form 1 to make an SBR? Do I have wait for the Form 1 disapproval then appeal? I've also been doing more investigation...

MD laws when making an SBR

As it turns out, the disapproval was a blessing in disguise. I've been doing some reading and my SBR build plans were flawed from the beginning. I think my only advice right now is do a lot of upfront research and when you think you know enough, keep researching. I found some information which I...

MD laws when making an SBR

Thanks for the clarification! That'll save me some time discovering what to do on my next sbr adventure.

MD laws when making an SBR

Thanks all for the feedback. At this point I suppose it's all speculation based on the ATF officer. So much for trying to be honest and realistic. Trying to do the right thing is futile. The next Form 1 I file will be to purchase an SBR (sometime in the future). Maybe that'll go smoother.

MD laws when making an SBR

Actually, I'm not sure I answered your question. The receiver specified is an Aero Precision M4E1. The receiver is designated as multi-caliber but I had read indicating a specific caliber on the form would help.

MD laws when making an SBR

Ah, so you think its the math of 29.75" - 9.75" = 20" and there is no way to create a legal SBR with the remaining 20"?

MD laws when making an SBR

The registration was to make an SBR using a lower receiver supporting 300 AAC Blackout. Specified in the eForm as 300.

MD laws when making an SBR

My eForm 1 was disapproved because "The making and/or possession of this firearm would be in violation of State or local law.". Nothing else. I'm curious about the details but I can't seem to get any further information from the NFA. I wanted to see if I could answer my own question by asking...

Dumbest thing you ever did on gun repair

I ordered an AR lower with support for an ambidextrous bolt release and the bolt release itself separately. Of course the 2 didn't fit perfectly so I set out to make very small customizations for fitment. A bunch of minor adjustments turned into a major adjustment and I was left with a...

      Spectator's

I was getting excited to go to a match given all the encouragement then went to replenish my dwindling 9mm ammunition supply and [emoji20]. Ammunition is really scarce these days and the outlook I read of increased supply by October was disheartening. Even that forcast was speculative...

      Spectator's

I go to the AGC and a member of the Action Shooting club (inactive for now) and saw the 8/1 steel match on the event calendar. I believe I also saw a communication that movement is limited due to the heat. That could work in my favor if I decide to jump in on the fun. I'm kinda hobbled at the...

      Spectator's

I'm practicing my basic skills in order to join a match but I'd like to watch some matches in the meantime (for equipment, techniques, operation, etc.). Is having spectator's frowned upon? If not, should I mention I'm there just to watch to the match director/RSO? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

CMMG Banshee for IPSC and IDPA

I'll take the feedback as a clear, unanimous NO. A pistol variant of the CMMG Banshee in a pistol caliber CANNOT be used in IPSC and IDPA PCC competitions.
