Legal Question: Fixed Blade Carry at Home

Does the ban on concealed carry of fixed blades ("bowie knives") extend through personal private property (e.g., own personal residence, own back yard)? Am I required to open carry my fixed blade buck knife while grilling in my back yard? I have to ask...it is Maryland. {{Md. Code, CR §...

Jr. Hunt Day -- Other Activities?

According to page 18 of the 2019-2020 hunting guide: "Junior Deer Hunt Days are for hunters age 16 or younger only."

Jr. Hunt Day -- Other Activities?

I am a man (> 16 y.o.). As such, I am prohibited from hunting deer this Saturday (Junior Hunt Day). Question: May I legally hunt other species (e.g. small game) on Jr. Hunt Day? MD hunting regs state that only deer may be hunted on the first day of firearms season, but what about Junior...

      What Crossbow

Do not rule out low end xbows too quickly. Of course, Ravin and TenPoint are nicer, but more expensive xbows are unnecessary to take deer. What is needed: scouting, proper set, and a steady aim. In my experience, most archery whitetail hunting is within 20 yards (especially in the early season)...

      What's Your Favorite Stock 10/22?

I like the sporter walnut stock.

      Deer Hamburger

Don't forget CHILI. I find that ground venison is apt for chili, as the meat remains somewhat firm after hours in the slow cooker.

How did you do during Opening Muzzleloader?

I hunted public land and saw no deer, on Saturday. Neither did other hunters, judging from the lack of distant shots. I was a little surprised, as I have seen deer throughout early archery season. I do not believe in the October Lull, but...

      Goat meat

I like goat. The flavor is reminiscent of mutton, but it is chewier. Keep the dental floss handy.

      Muzzleloader Purchases Process

What is the procedure for buying a muzzleloader in MD? Is there simply a minimum age check, or is there a mandatory background check and/or purchase recordation?

Target shooting in backyard? (Map attached - Carroll County)

Not sure at CC, but this would not work in MoCo.

      Weather change

Not enough info to make an educated decision. Flip a coin? In all seriousness, all else equal, I would do the PM hunt, as it is easier to sneak in and setup quieter in sunlight.

      Good Quality Climbing Carabiners?

What is the intended use: saddle hunting, lineman's belt, haul line, rock climbing? The intended use makes a big difference.

      Reloading bench set up...ideas?

I use my tumbler in the garage: keeps lead out of living space, and not too noisy / will not alarm neighbors.

      Venomous Snake Encounters

My first encounter of the year was at dusk on a road alongside a creek. Copperhead. What was scary was that I nearly stepped right on it; their pattern works well in shadows / low-light.

      Ground Blinds and Snakes

      Kids Hunting Gear

Unless your kids have unusual self-control / restraint, I recommend waiting a few seasons. As we all know, hunting requires silence. In my experience, children are incapable of being quiet for more than two minutes, if you are lucky, and less if motionlessness is required. I re-learned this...

      Does / Buck Harvest Sequencing?

Is there a MD DNR reg regarding harvest sequencing of deer sex? For example, can I shoot two bucks back-to-back at the start of the season (with a bonus antlered tag or course) or are you required to take a certain amount of does after killing a buck?
