      Employer interview for CCW

I assume they would know about it as soon as you sat down given your state tax returns, etc.

      Employer interview for CCW

Really? Lord. Shouldn't they also talk to your local bar, bowling alley, and former Little League teammates? Do you know if they explicitly state the reason to the employer? Will they outright kill your promotion with CCW talk, or only put it at risk by asking about general violence?

      Employer interview for CCW

My understanding is that if you're using your job as evidence of a "good and substantial" reason for a CCW, MSP will interview your employer. I imagine that if you're self-employed, they wouldn't talk to anyone professionally. What if you have both, though? If you have a regular W-2 job...

New stripped AR lower, new 10.5" upper?

That's a great idea, thank you. I will check them out.

New stripped AR lower, new 10.5" upper?

I assume that measurement is from end of barrel (not muzzle device) to end of collapsed stock? My 14.5" with collapsed CTR is just over 29" to the base of the FH. I've never been a huge fan of the AR pistols. Also, the ultimate goal of this project is to run it suppressed. Edit: Sorry...

Holy crap, is that a great avatar.

New stripped AR lower, new 10.5" upper?

Thank you. Shouldn't be a problem with most stocks as in we need to be above (or below?) a certain overall length?

New stripped AR lower, new 10.5" upper?

I'm sorry if I'm a broken record; I've searched, but not found. Here's what I'd like to do: 1. Purchase a new, stripped AR-15 lower from on-line retailer, gunbroker, or LGS. I understand this is pretty much the same as pre-10/13, right? Send to my FFL, paperwork, 7-day wait? 2. Create...

A Psychiatrist Examines The Anti-Gun Mentality

I think this is a poorly constructed and poorly written article. My vote would be against officially connecting it to MSI. I'm sure I'll sound crusty, but I care about our side being taken seriously and I think things like this hurt us. The following passage is an example: Whether you...

      Do Away With 2nd Amendment

If they take away my guns, I'm going to have to find another way to kill myself because I cannot believe this guy is paid to write.

Made my first knife - lots of pics

Feels like this one took years :) I have holes in the tang for the pins and five smaller ones as "glue rivets". The balance is good as is. I didn't really want to throw that off or weaken it any. It's really just a little more knife than I need. I was replacing a Gerber LMF, which has...

I think you have to be one of those hardcore knife guys to start down that road.

Completing it actually was a huge deal to me. The whole thing took forever and there were a bunch of restarts and set-backs. There were a lot of times where I was real close to scrapping it. I'm real happy to have this done and about as good as I could have hoped for instead of coming...

It would probably have been a tenth of the effort if I'd actually known what I was doing  I'll give away ten free when we finally get CCW. Consider yourself at the top of the list.

Ha, that's the funny part. I was looking at a RAT 5, but balking largely because of the weight. For camping stuff, weight is my primary concern because I do a lot of longish hikes. The RAT was 16oz for just the knife. This one is 13. The RAT is 1/4" where this is 3/16" so some weight is...

Made my first knife - lots of pics

Well, I haven't done much cutting with it yet, so I can't say for sure that it's actually comparable with real knives. But assuming it works as planned, say a Ka-Bar is like $50, right? For what it's worth, I was looking hard at a RAT 5, which are a little over $100. I'm not sure exactly how...

Made my first knife - lots of pics

I got it from Jantz. I got a bar that was 18" x 3/16" x 2", which was ten bucks, I think. The shipping is expensive, but I think you do better if you order more. The picture I have of it really doesn't do it justice. It is absolutely flat and perfect. I've still got the end if what you're...

1095 is what I started with, but I couldn't find any really fast quench oil for it. I was going to do a brine quench, but got scared off, which is why I went with the O-1. I've got access to a kiln. My mom does a lot of glass work and has a kiln. I guess it's small by glass standards but...

Man, tons of nice responses, thanks guys. The river trip I was shooting for is an annual one with two friends. The original plan was to make one for each of us for that. I laugh and laugh now at that. The serious guys use belt sanders (like 48" belts). I'm going to pick up a cheap angle...

Calendar-wise, three months and a day. Actual hours? I'm not sure. A ton, but I had a lot of re-starts and do-overs. This was my third piece of steel. I screwed up the first then got about 80% through the second before deciding to switch types because the O-1 is a lot easier to heat treat...
