You can try NARA - bringback papers were part of the soldier/marine's file. I tried NARA on an old 98k a buddy of my grandfather brought back from WW2 (they flew in the same bomber). It was a rando mix master so I wasn't expecting anything. I sent the information to NARA (serial number, year...
BTW, as an aside, they make these CO2 cartridge holding thingies that will use CO2 to pop the charge and ball right out of the barrel.
Or if you're like me...you point the gun in a safe direction and pop it off. If you do that you can almost guarantee a herd of 290 point deer will walk right...
A buddy of mine started with a flintlock - he was frustrated with it at first but he got a hang of it. I've always found it a good idea to start with a percussion gun. Run it through its paces and then move to a flintlock. You'll be able to apply everything you learned.

That's what I did. I provided about 8 different bullets in my comment. Several associated with being unable to just SBR the pistol in MD due to OAL requirements i.e. "You're forcing me to modify the upper at a gunsmith to make OAL requirements in the state so my only option is to convert it to...
I have two old Bushmasters I can compare them to. I suspect they're basically the same. I'm looking to buy a new upper from them so I will have to compare quality / components.
The short answer is that you cannot register it as an SBR because of Maryland's laws - thus your only options are to remove the brace, add a stock and muzzle device to make minimum length requirements (big money!), use a brace that's "ok" (after removing all accessories), or turn in the gun...
