      Making Wood barrel vice blocks

      Depending on how much torque you need, pine might be too soft. Hardwoods deform less and can grip the barrel better. Some recommended carpet or leather, but rosin powder works too.

      M1903 vs M1917

      The Garand is better than the original m1903 in every way. The improvements made to the m1903a3 closed the gap for sure. But if I had the choice, the m1903 is pretty low on my list for a combat rifle.

      My bergara steel barrel can do the same with sk lrm. If you want the weight, go for it, but it isn't going to be more accurate per se.

      I've never had an issue. Hand gun or rifle, their rimfire stuff works.

      M1903 vs M1917

      I have the same hood on mine, but I had to take it off. I really struggled to see the target with the hood on and with the v notch. The front sight post was too fine for being in the shade/dark.

      As already said, promags are great if you want to practice clearing stoppages. Otherwise, not even close to worth the price.

      The barrel length is 4.7 inches. The barrel and recoil spring come with the slide. All this needs is an FCU and your ready to go.

      1911 cleaning and lube tips ?

      I use some light grease on the slide rails and a little anywhere there are wear marks. The marks shown by radarman, yea just a light coat of grease won't hurt anything.
