So I have a complete Anderson upper receiver with barrel and M-Lok shroud. Tried to remove the M-Lok shroud but it would not budge. I removed the 2 set screws and the 3 tightening screws. Both sets are located near the rear of the shroud. Is there anything I am missing here as to why it won't come off?

I think he means handguard not shroud. If I am wrong, sorry but...

The handguard will not have any Loctite or Rocksett.
I had one where I had to put the screws in backwards to spread apart where the handguard goes over the barrel nut to remove it.

OP - A picture would really help to understand if its a barrel shroud or handguard you are trying to remove.

You would think that and you would be wrong. I had RRA carbine with a YHM freefloat on it that was red Locktited on.
After Dremeling the steel back-band off(which was also Locktited on instead of Aeroshelled), it took a torch and a pipe wrench to remove the rest of it.

Wow! Shows what I know (or don't). There doesn't seem to be a reason to do it like that unless the tolerances were poor and they were using the Loctite as a Bandaid. I would not expect YHM to have poor tolerances.

First time for everything maybe. That was the last AR I bought. That was back in the '90s. After that, I built my own. :)

I'm pretty sure there are some older handguards that called for locktite during install. IIRC, older vtacs were one. If I ever get a stubborn one, i always try a torch first.
