Deeplurker, with help from DC-W, Migraineman, swinokur, AOB, Stoveman, and many others did a wonderful job in organizing the remembrance. The weather was pleasant and not overly warm. Many of Jeff's family members were there including his incredibly spry 91-yr old mother.

I drove in at about 7:45pm, didn't know my way around, saw Clandestine on the sidewalk, and hollered at the poor guy from my car asking where to find parking. And of course he gave me clear and precise directions of where to go. Some things never change.

I'll be there in about 20 minutes. I have my PP T over a light sweat shirt. Hopefully it won't get too cool this evening.

Shoot, didn't check this thread in time. Have been wanting to meet you.

Did get to meet a number of MDS folks that I've been interested in meeting (including Welder) tonight.

Babalou, thanks for the drink afterwards. We'll have to throw some more back sometime in the future.

Finished the evening chatting with Jeff's daughter, her boyfriend, Jim12, and JoeRinMD. Discovered that Jeff's daughter went to the same high school my older boy recently graduated from and her favorite teacher back then is a good friend of mine (and quite the marksman, although she had no idea until tonight).

Deeplurker, et. al. Put together a great memorial! It was nice seeing familiar patriotic faces. I’m sure Rack was looking down and smiling. Nice to meet Jeff’s other family members, his mother is a dear lady. Sadly, fred55

It was an honor to be there. The free parking garage was a bonus and I think the worst we did was some melted wax dripping on the ground.

Calvert Garage. Free after 6 and weekends. Very close to Lawyers Mall. It's a walk down to Mission BBQ, but unless you are moving your car, it's a walk somewhere down there.

For those folks with handicapped tags, you get four hours free parking at the City Dock. Last night I parked there and then moved my van down to the Calvert Street garage for the ceremony. The walk to City Dock from the Calvert Street garage is about 3/4 of a mile but it is up and down with quite a few curbs to navigate.

Sorry I couldn't be there. I had a couple of dealings with Jeff. A real gentleman he was. Last time I spoke to him was around Thanksgiving/Christmas, and he was in Florida with him mom, she was concerned about the virus. He didn't want to leave her alone down there. Knowing how sick he was he went anyway. Always thinking of others. I hope that when his health worsened that he didn't suffer.

    RIP Jeff.

I want to express my gratitude again to everyone who came to Annapolis last night for our memorial service for Jeff, and to everyone on MDS who together have shared their personal remembrances and expressed gratitude for Jeff’s life, leadership, friendship and fellowship.

This greatly comforted the members of my family who joined us there.

I want to also include a special thanks to everyone who pitched in to make it possible to have this memorial service at the special location, to have a portable sound system available for our use there, as well as leading the candlelight march which followed.

I am especially grateful to the following people who agreed to speak about the many aspects of Jeff’s interesting and unusual life as friend, a beloved father and uncle, and a 2A activist and writer.

I am in the process of transcribing the spoken words of those (including MDS members, by their screen names) who shared their remembrances at the memorial service:

    MigraineMan
    Gryphon
    Dick Heller (by letter)
    Fidelity
    Stoveman
    Esqappellate
Cary Hansel (our Federal civil rights lawsuit attorney)
    ShafTed

I will have additional pictures to share soon, along with the transcribed remembrances.

In the picture below I am looking up at the Statehouse as I describe our plan to march around it:

It was a moving tribute to a leader and a true patriot. I consider myself fortunate to have spent the evening in such good company, all there to honor Jeff.
Many thanks to Kevin and all who helped put the memorial together and to those that spoke of Jeff's life and impact.
Welder - yeah, good catching up with you, and it was nice seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new folks.
