    I've killed 7 this week. Shooting a Savage model 93 in .17hmr.
    Longest was 120 yards.
Last year longest kill was 180 yards.
I'm looking for a gun to reach out further with, any one care to make recommendations?

I use an old Remington model 7 in 223 with an old bushnell 3x9 scope and a harris bipod. shes old and ugly but I have 1 kill at 480yd and another at 460. but I will admit shes much better at 300 or less than she is out there. I have killed a few this year and so has my son. by the end of the year we will kill or trap over a 100, we always do. hell we each have one with the m1 carbine this year.

I use a Browning bolt action long bull barrel in 22-250 with a Leupold 6.5-20 scope.
Ballistics is like a frozen rope to 400yds.

    Where they send me.
Mine are all close so either .22LR or .22 air rifle.

Would like more power but don't need it where I am.

In open spaces I would likely go with .223 or the 22-250 if I had no worries about back stops.

Couldn't be any better rifle for groundhogs. 22-250 seems like it was made for hunting groundhogs.

    Not sure

If I'm ready to eat em. I know some older people who used to eat ground hogs years ago. Are you serious about eating them? Or does anybody?
How about some ground hog jerky? I've thought about it.

I have eaten them and know others that also do. usually we trap the ones we eat so they wont be blown up and we can get them skinned gutted and in the cooler quicker.

they taste better than muskrats, coon and possum anyway.

Last year I was using a savage model 16 in 22-250. Blazed groundhogs at 100 yards. That was the total length on of the field at a buddy's farm. I'm sure it would have reached out much further. Can't beat a savage.

I wish I had somewhere to shoot 'em. I really want to do some varmint hunting. Especially going up to South Dakota and doing in some prairie dogs. 25-06 works well too.

We had 2 farms in Taneytown back in the day. You could easily spend all day and never get bored.

I love using my 22 Hornet for ground hogs....I routinely shoot them out to 200 yards with it.

My friends farm is open season on deer and groundhogs. ( of course you abide by the lawful season ). They want the groundhogs dead for the cows sake and the deer dead because they eat the crops. Most farmers are this way. Just ask.

Man, I wish I had somewhere to get the varmints. I've got a brand new .22 air rifle that packs a pretty serious punch for an air rifle. I'm looking forward to putting it through it's paces.
