Let's say a hunting license expired on 31Jul2020. The above link states that Governor Hogan issued an executive order related to licenses up for renewal during the state of emergency. The executive order immediately grants a grace period of 30 days after the date of termination of the state of emergency.

Does this mean that one doesn't need to renew until 30 days after the pandemic ends, and can still legally hunt for the 2020-2021 season? Asking for a friend.

I would think that is exactly what it means. I would think that the State would send out a notice just like they did with the park fees.

Since I'm retired, I'm happy to pay the $5 for my hunting and fishing licenses. I earned it. :D

Congrats, but I won't get to retire for (what seems like) another 100 years, so I wouldn't mind saving a buck or two this season!

I understand it's all done online, and that's how I've only done it. I was just curious if the last season's license would remain valid according to the executive order.

I doubt it. DNR license’s can me renewed online, your DL not. I would not want to be the test case. Your time & dime though.

Here is the exact wording from DNR.

Grace period extended to all Maryland license holders

Governor Hogan has issued an executive order related to licenses, permits, registrations, and other authorizations that may be expiring or up for renewal during the state of emergency. The executive order immediately grants a grace period of 30 days after the date of termination of the state of emergency. This includes items processed at our Maryland Department of Natural Resources Licensing Service Centers

As I see it, you don't have to renew until 30 days after they declare the State of Emergency is over.

How about those that need a license stop by the sporting goods desk in Walmart and buy it? I bought my fishing license there recently and it was no different then any time.

It always amazes me the ability of people to create an issue out of nothing...

Lol. No one's creating an issue. I was mildly curious if that's the way the executive order read. As joker would ask: Why so serious?

Just so you know, it is much faster to do the whole process from your phone on the Compass system. It remembers your info so you only have to enter the data once.

Why not just go and get it?

 You crack me up, dude. Maybe because, unlike you, I'm not made of money, so if the executive order states that I can save a few dollars, why the hell not?

Are you also one of those people that sent back the stimulus check? :lol2:

I don’t think the executive order says anything about “saving a few dollars”.

What’s the stimulus check have to do with this?

I guess I could but there's already confirmation#s linked to the Hunter ID#
Ill just get a new one on the portal. You don't even need ink anymore with the compass system just like J from MD said.

Same. As soon as I shoot a deer and see it go down, for the hour wait I pull out the phone and start logging the deer in.
I'll call DNR tomorrow to see if they're waving renewals, because I'm fairly certain that the pandemic will last through the winter.

Called DNR, who put me through to what sounded like a natural resource police officer, and he stated that hunting licenses don't count, and looked up the language for what was what. He stated that since Compass can be used, the waiver from the executive order doesn't apply. Didn't hurt to ask!
