Get crackin you muggs!!!!
Anyone have any experience doing this? Is it something I even want to try myself?
Sorry, Citadel Warthog, semiauto. The model without the pistol grip. What kind of shotgun?
A big problem with some (older Mossberg, Benelli M1s90, Winchester 1200/1300) is that they have aluminum receivers that are not thick enough to drill and tap and have screws mounted in them. Usually a piece of aluminum bar stock must be welded to the receiver to provide enough material to mount a rail
Remington 870 receivers are steel and hold up to drilling and tapping better.
In some cases there are aftermarket bolt on rails that mount to the side that allow mounting of a scope without the risk of ruining your shottie
depending on the optic rail/bases and the receiver you could explore using black loctite 380 to glue the base on. It has the strength and is used to mount optics on older classic/milsurp that folks don't want to D&T. Google scope mounting with black loctite. Use a heat gun to release and no scars. Now if it's going on a 3 1/2" turkey gun, that may be too much shear. Better if you can bore sight while you're doing it so you can better align the sights. I've never used it on more than 7mm mauser.
There are a few mounts available on the internet but having the right match is critical when purchasing a tactical shotty. I have the Berreta 1301 and they make a couple mounts for that gun but the scope selection is limited for those mounts.
Good luck.

^^^This^^^ unless of course you can confirm your receiver is steel ... and thick enough in the spots to be D&T’ed ...
Personally, I’d ring up a tech at LSI and splain your goal ... chances are they can tell you if the mounting hole pattern in any existing receiver side mount may fit your Warthog ...
