The Castle Doctrine is as old as private property.

Well, let's be honest. The left wants to do away with that as well.

    From the link:
“In most instances the thief needs the money more than the homeowner does,” Meza continued in a statement. “The homeowner’s insurance we reimburse his losses. On balance, the transfer of property is likely to lead to a more equitable distribution of wealth. If my bill can help make this transfer a peaceful one so much the better.”

^^^^you have to be kidding me. Their viewpoint is so warped it would be impossible to reason with them. And that word Equitable distribution of wealth is even being used in a freakin robbery.

She is all but advocating for a violent socialist takeover, just on a small scale (for now).

So now if this law passes, the home owner must kill every intruder, then dispose of the bodies so as not to get in trouble for defending ones self. Got it

Just say you were robbing the deceased and they put up a struggle .....:innocent0

    5cary,

Like you, I was a bit puzzled when I went to the original link, seeing only the text of the proposed bill. After digging a bit more, I found this link, in which the legislators comments about the bill are presented.

    https://thehayride.com/2020/12/gov-abbott-is-correct-castle-doctrine-bill-is-dead-at-the-door/

Thanks for the clarification. I found it strange her name is at the top, but none of her language is included.

    Her statements are freaking loony...

Dead on arrival. This shit is just posturing. Happens every 2 years before the Legislature meets. Will never hit the floor, just playing to libtards for the next election. Only effect is to get $$$ from Soros.

The fact that the left is telling us what they want and you dismiss it as a ploy to only get money from Soros is sad.

Soros will give the money and they will continue chipping away at our rights one nibble at a time. The Demoncrats and the left play the long game, take a two steps forward and then they get pushed a step backward, they are still a step further towards their goal than the were before. Its known as incrementalism or boiling the frog.

It seems to me, under this law, if the robber kills the homeowner, they can posthumously charge the homeowner with murder.

    Reality inversion.

This will, thankfully, never see the light of day. https://spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/sa...fs-proposed-change-to-texas--castle-doctrine-
In Texas, a homeowner is allowed to use deadly force for, among other things, criminal mischief at night. Criminal Mischief, technically, includes such things as TP'ing a tree.
I remember reading this story about a justified shooting involving a potted plant thief when I first moved and was incredulous. https://www.ksat.com/news/2012/02/15/man-shot-while-trying-to-steal-potted-plant-2/

If you use the link in post #40 , the version in fist post's link is a parody . The link in post #40 has the Actual text .

The actual text would add a partial duty to retreat .

This reminds me of a statement I made out of sarcasm about Maryland , I believe it was about the same topic if someone breaks in your home. I would in caution assume intruder is and would/will be armed with a poly 80%. Scary that people think of this as reason. You know what they say , don’t believe in God or guns first thing that happens when someone breaks into their home they pray to God they had a gun.

I would go to Jail first then to not fight back if I had the means at hand.

This person priding this needs a MAGA rally in front of his home. Maybe that is the solution to this idiocy

She knows exactly what she is doing. This is not out of ignorance or naiveté.

This is your fundamental change/new normal/great reset. Create a Dystopian hell where there are the serfs (that's us) and then our betters like her who will still live in their safe worlds behind guarded gates.

They are actively pushing this thought process in the schools. We can shrug it off right now, but realize that the kids that are being brainwashed with this stuff are going to be the ones making the decisions, and they think that WE are the insane ones.

Since you put it that way, I read you loud and clear. I am not a fan of shrugging it off. Not a fan of the public school indoctrination process either. I tend to sign off people like her as being ignorant first and malicious second. Malicious first IS the name of the game for the people in power and it is obvious who "they" are in today's world.

    Absolutely right.

I am actually waiting to see which of the far left cities is the first to actually legalize theft in the name of equity. The signals are lit and track is lined, it's just a matter of who pushes the button first.

One could even say that has happened already, its just not officially on paper yet. Look at Portland this past year. Riot and looting was acceptable. The Portland DA let just about everyone arrested walk. Ted Wheeler backed them and then got scared of the monster that he helped create after they showed up at his house. Same goes for other D's in certain cities this year too. At what point does a politician stop obeying orders from their uppers? It appears that most of them are willing to die on the hill at the hands of their own kind.

This bill is even more of a threat than I first thought.

While this law does not actually legalize stealing, it does legalize profiting from a crime. Since the author of the bill says that home owners have to protect the burglar or be sued, burglars will find ways to get hurt, sue, and argue legislative intent, thus profiting off the law.
