    You might want to go out to dinner in a more genteel part of Baltimore County. You know, someplace where a bayonet is not considered a necessary part of your dining atmosphere.

    Open carry only for fixed blades. If you want to carry a knife in a similar way to carrying a fixed blade, just get a folding knife of similar design and leave it locked open. For instance, you could get a cold steel spartan, lock it open, toss it in this sheath....

    ....and tuck it under a shirt. Being a folding knife, you're allowed to conceal it without concern for how. It's the sba3 of the knife law world.

    I carry a small machete on my search and rescue bag... I keep it strapped outside.

    Thats a nice rescue pack arrangement.

    {FULL DISCLOSURE}
    I carry small hand held pruning shears in the woods when I'm stalking.
    The little cheap throw a ways like you get at home depot or Wal-Mart with the little coil spring return.
    Tied right to the side of my pack on a lanyard on the right side so I can hold the rifle with the left arm and do a reach around for getting through a briar patch.

    That's actually a pretty smart idea.
