Good hulls need to be FREE and your time needs to be worth very little (i.e; retired and trying to get away from the wife).

    That helps. :)

Yeah, free hulls help, but the $6.50 per box for reloading IS without paying for hulls.

When I was shooting a LOT of shotgun, I kept asking people. And most were either using old prices. OR, had a huge stash of stuff from a long time ago when prices were lower.

We actually were Fiocchi distributors (had to buy a pallet), so were actually less per box than it cost at the time to reload.

My cost analysis for 7/8 oz load with 18 grains of Clays

    Hulls: Free
    Primers: $135 (5000)
    Powder: $130 (8 lbs)
    Wads: $83 (5000)
    Shot: $34 (25 #)

With 6% tax this equates to about $4.23 / box, $0.17/ Shell, and $847/ 5000 rounds
    Total CASH outlay $926.44
The time away from the "WE are doing this.... or WE should do that... " is priceless.

1-1/8 oz of shot will cost you three plus a little additional bags of lead another $108

This is my current cost for 20 ga. If I reload 3/4 oz. 20 ga I can get it down to $3.92/box.

12 gauge shotshell loading makes no sense but I find it enjoyable side hobby to infrequent clay shooting and adds another excuse for how bad I do whenever I get out to miss more targets.

Maybe like 12 loads on a gun club before they start splitting, find them on the ground and in trash cans at every club.

I just posted an WTB add in the classifieds as I am hoping to start reloading 12ga and I am wondering if I would even be able to find powder, and shot. I am currently looking for a press and that is what led me here.

    Hoping someone chimes in

The closest wholesale place to you, that I know of, is Shyda's in Lebanon. They carry powder, shot, wads etc. If you ever get around the Richmond, VA area, you can try Green Top Sporting Goods they carry the same stuff. These days, I would call just before making the trip to see if they have anything in stock.

PG Trap& skeet has shot .... As long as you are looking for 7.5, 8, or 9 . Also selection of wads .... So long as they are plausibly used to shoot clay things .

Still good supply of shotgun powders , but within the past cpl of weeks , 209 primers have now gone the way of SP and SR .
