His history of disdain for the employees is incredible.

The problem with Blaine's statements in this article is that he IGNORED the county employees recommendations and thoughts. He never gave a damn about the 2000+ employees of the county.

The real reason why the PPP fiasco was put to rest was the enough county employees showed up for 4 PPP meetings that were for employees only and tore the BOCC a new one. Those 4 meetings were all it took to kill the PPP issue, the public meetings were a sham for the general public to think they actually had a voice. The county employees made their voices heard and he knew he wouldn't be re-elected if he went against the wishes of the FredCo employees. It didn't matter in the end, the FredCo employees managed to get the last laugh, because they ensured he never became County Executive. The voting showed Blaine getting 35% of the poplular vote and Jan Gardner 65% of the vote. That sounds to me like county employees have a lot of friends out there. The former BOCC members and the new County Council members would do best to remember the wrath of county employees back then.

Under Blaine Young, he cut the positions of people that were within 3 years of retirement, with no warning. The people that were cut were the workers that went out and did their jobs every day, but he didn't trim the redundant and bloated management, that didn't do squat. Blaine cut the muscle and left the fat. Somehow though a miracle, after those employees were fired, they "found" $5-15 million in the budget somewhere, so the reality is that they didn't have to cut those employees that were essential to the operation of the county.

Bottom line is that Blaine fvcked the residents of the county by fvcking the county employees that do the work outside of an office building. More with less, my ass.
