Just finished upgrading to Windows 11 Home. It is totally different right now playing seek and find. So far no compatibility issues with hardware or software.

First thing I did was switch the task bar icons back to the left and then sent off feedback about not being able to expand and ungroup the taskbar icons (I will go back to Win10 if they don't fix that in the general release).

Otherwise, I am still playing with the settings.

A few weeks ago I had a look at the insider preview.

Little more polish, but I didn't really get a chance to really play with it.

Curious, if you run winver what version number is it showing now?

Put that crap in the trash and install linux.

I'm sure my employer will be happy if I do that. And since I have to supply software written for Windows it should make life easier to do that on Linux.

    Windows 11 ...(Windows 11 DEV, Version 21H2 [22000.100]
a prettied up version of 10
Hardware requirements CPU's may "force" some to upgrade.
TPM 2.0... and Microsoft saying there will be "no work-arounds"
when it's RTM. Currently there are several work arounds to
get it to run on other hardware, whether Registry fix or another
Image mod (ISO). Been running it in a VMware environment, it's
okay, just an opinion. Windows 10 LTSC [17763.2090] mainly and
Windows 7 forget what build, have several test systems, use Ventoy
to put all my ISO's on a 32-64 GB Thumb-drive, boot up on it and
select which to install, also works for a Swiis Army knife of Live ISO's.
Anyway Windows 11 meh...so far, I sure ain't gonna go and buy
new motherboard CPU just to run it. But hey that's my opinion.
Then you have.....Welcome to your Windows 365 Cloud PC

MS has every incentive to make each OS increment less and less efficient causing people to buy a new PC.
I try to hang on as long as I can.
Other than gaming, the need for more computing power has become stagnant.
MS will do what they have to to make you buy another PC.
I wish MS would go to say a $50 + $25/year license fee for home PCs and just fix bugs and make it more efficient and reliable.

You hit the nail on the head. People who purchase MS Windows for that
matter are paying to be "beta testers" your paying MS for doing the bug checks.
They release stuff on "patch Tuesday" that are supposed to fix issues they
just create more. I don't game so could care less, do plenty of graphics stuff
and Cad, DAW. Still have some PC's that are running XP-SP3 that's modded.
Skipped over Vista, 8.1, waited on Win 7 SP1 before running it, Win 10 waited
several builds past the RTM. Prefer to mod them. Computers have been a
hobby since the Heathkit / HDOS, CPM days

Like anything else systems are being upgraded, do people not buy new autos because they have the latest operating software? Do we not update our auto computer systems just as any OS does? When an older auto computer craps out the new ones installed have newer OS. 18 years ago GOV OMB was told they needed to update their computers and computer security. Well 4 years later they were hacked putting the USGOV in a tail spin. Anyone who had a security clearance now had all their info out in the WWW.

I think it is funny when Apple updates their OS you do not hear a peep. When MS updates their OS it is world ending with increased security. At any point it is about choices if people do not like MS switch to another OS.

    Hear, hear!

I have one Windows machine at the house. It is a company issued laptop. The rest of the machines are Linux and BSD. I even managed to move my parents to Linux.

No more problems with malware. No more buying software.

Linux provides features for free that Microsoft wants others to buy. For example, we get to use our onboard TPM out-of-the-box. We don't need to buy Windows Pro. And Linux provides OpenOffice for free. No need to buy Office365.

I was in a meeting shortly after this happened. One of the attendees was trying to get or renew his clearance. He said that the Security office had lost his submission however.

I told him it was okay, the Chinese had a copy of everything.
