    Howdy everyone,

I just moved here on orders. I love shotguns but am looking to expand into the AR department here soon. Anyone have any suggestions for places that do shotgun courses?

So far my online research has come up short.

Thanks again to Don for pointing me to this forum.

Welcome from west of Frederick. What’s your location? Military on orders? We have a Catoctin fish and game Gun club that shoots clay pigeons on Thursday evenings but there’s a waiting list for membership. I’ll check if anyone gives instructions.

All of the above! Any of the above? I have been told I have a knack for clay shooting but I am also looking for entry into hunting as well.

Pax river on active orders but I commute to DC three times a week. So I have time if you have any PODCAST or audio book suggestions.

I enjoy skeet and trap, but I'd love to get into tacticool stuff too. Whichever has the best community around here. I'm located in Southern Maryland near Pax river

For shotgun self defense stuff I'd look at two companies in VA:

FPF Training and Justified Defensive Concepts. Tim Chandler is involved with both companies and he is a shotgun guru. We're lucky to have him so close. Both typically hold classes in Culpeper VA.

Since you're on orders at Pax River, take a look at the Sanner's Lake Sportsman Club (which is just down Great Mills Road from gate 2) calendar and see the weekend schedule for skeet, wobble & 5-stand (which is open to the public).

Another event at SLSC is the practical-tactical shotgun matches which occurs on the 4th Sunday of a 5 Sunday month (excluding the winter months). We just had the final one of the year last weekend. It's non-sanctioned and runs loosely like an IDPA/USPSA event except shooting at steel and stationary clay pigeons. Next one is in May 2022. Watch for it on Practiscore.

For AR dynamic type shooting, look for the Carbine Classic on the calendar. Next match is this coming weekend. Signup is also on practiscore. Once on practiscore's website, search on "sanners". If its full, feel free to still come out and watch to see if it's something you'd like to shoot in the future.

SLSC membership is not required to shoot any of the sponsored events.

If you are at PAX and living in the area, I would suggest the Sanner Lake Sportsman's club. Once upon a time, I would shoot the Deagle Grand sporting clays tournament down there. It was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! Would shoot sporting clays down there just for fun too. Won the "flurry" twice at the Deagle Grand sporting clays tournament and it paid more than winning the sporting clays tournament. lol

I believe they have rifle and pistol ranges too.

I believe Inigoes and a couple other people on here are members of Sanner Lake Sportsman's Club.

Welcome to the board and good luck.
