I hope that never happens, the area is already being impacted by overcrowding.

Sadly this is very true. Tucker, Grant, Hampshire, and Hardy counties are all seeing a lot of new development that is changing the very fabric of the landscape and culture. Don't get me started on Wardensville....

Who needs a turn-key compound? $119k on 6 unrestricted acres on the WV/VA border east of Marlinton in a fairly sparsely populated section of the state. The outside screams "Militia" but the inside says "cozy man cave."

Needs some finishing, but it comes complete with well, septic, solar, wood stove, etc. Prior resident lived there year-round. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/699-Hightop-Mountain-Rd-Marlinton-WV-24954/97836724_zpid/

Or, if you want to rub elbows with our very own Pushrod, you can grab a hunting cabin on .25ac near Glady for a mere 45k. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/10326-Bemis-Rd-Glady-WV-26268/2071562917_zpid/

Or, if you're making CEO money, you can grab just under 1000ac with a beautiful historic log home up in Harman: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1889-Cora-Ln-Harman-WV-26270/2080790665_zpid/

The cabin on .25 acres is located almost across the street from the Natural Gas Processing plant. Still in a wonderful location with rivers and forest all around.

Or my next store neighbor, Roger's, property:

The property used to be the logging town of Wheeler way back in the day.

    Almost Heaven, WV
That's about the size property and price I'm interested in purchasing as a "weekend" spot but it's a bit far from where we already are in WV. Thanks for sharing.

Can you clue me in on the Wardensville issues? Just had a bud buy just outside of town, he moved in a couple of months ago and I'm due to go visit him soon......

It's the end of corridor H. VA is dragging their feet on completing their section of the road to the I66/I81 interchange. So right now, all the corridor H traffic goes on a two lane road through Wardensville and then up and over the hill to VA.

    Does it perc?

It should. There's several homes nearby with amenities. I've never tried to on my lot because I never intended to put a real house there.

Given how tuition cost is going, a travel trailer in the woods of WV is going to look like a worthwhile option for a primary residence.

Looking at the LIDAR data for the property (not knowing the actual boundaries) there are a couple of nice sinks in that hollow which is indicative of cave formation underground. Monroe county is great karst country and full of caves (Greenbriar Co is the king of caves in WV).

I thought this was the most appropriate thread to post this. I have no idea if it's accurate. I thought it'd be interesting to hear from actual residents.
