Silver lining of this corrupt gerrymander

MD is a national disgrace with it's gerrymandering. The state is Deep Blue, but apparently 100% control is the end game for the Dems.

A Silver Lining - North County (northern Baltimore County), which is very Conservative (not Republican), would be gerrymandered into the Eastern Shore.

Perhaps I will go from having Baltimore City's Krazi Mfume as my Representative, to Andy Harris.

Maybe it's time for a tax revolt. Sorta like a modern counterpart of what the colonists did when the King imposed the tax stamp on tea. :innocent0

We don’t have to look to the Boston Tea Party to be proud as Patriots; Boston’s 248th anniversary is next week, December 16, 1773.

We’ve done it before here in Maryland.

It was our 247th-year anniversary here in Maryland back on on May 23rd and October 19th: the Chestertown and Annapolis Tea Parties.

Never forget that we are the “Old Line State” - - some of the bravest American Patriots are our actual and spiritual ancestors:

MGA setting themselves up to loose in court again. 10 years or so back they set a record for number of new laws overturned in a year - this is only the beginning of a new round. Mike and Mike kept it from being too obvious or embarrassing, but they are gone.

Well, here is Andy Harris on WMAL yesterday morning with Cam Edwards (in for Larry O’ Conner) discussing the MGA veto override:

This is hardly unique to MD or to a single party. Not defending partisan gerrymanders here or elsewhere, but those genuinely concerned about how this might impinge fair, representative democracy—which is a reasonable concern—should probably also be concerned about partisan gerrymandering going on in places like Texas.

gerrymandering is wrong no matter who is doing it. That being said, I live in Maryland. The ******* democrats here have taken gerrymandering to an art form.

They claim that their map is the cure for the Republican biased map proposed by Hogan.

Which one, this one from WaPo sourced by the US Census Bureau? :innocent0

The problem is even the tiny bits of blue in most of those districts is significantly more people than the vast tracts of red. Because most people live in cities, towns and suburbs compared to all of the rural areas. And it’s people who vote and decide apportionment. Not land.

Marylanders don't have a say in Texas state politics. Some of us aren't even heard in Maryland state politics.

And yet it's often the owners of large tracts of land that provide jobs and sustenance for the huddled masses.

It's also hard to discount the creation of voting units deliberately designed to disenfranchise local, affinity-based neighborhoods.

Tyranny of the majority. It's why we were supposed to be a republic.

MD used to be represented like the National way where each county had equal representation until the little blue areas got pissed the red areas outvoted them. So they changed. Again, this map is a perfect example and what you cited as exactly what the left wants to do with national representation

Have a closer look at the map I posted. It has the District boundaries overlaid on the party affiliations. You can clearly see the overt gerrymandering ... why else would Chevy Chase and Takoma Park be bound together to Emmitsburg and Thurmont through the wafer-thin section of Brookeville? The strict "people decide the apportionment" mantra creates this kind of imbalance ... the founders of this country knew that from the very start.
