    My grandfather had a 99A. We would use it at the range. We called it 'the cannon' :-)
    I was always sorry he sold it.....

    Thats a very nice 99 given the family history i would try to keep it. The savage 99 market is differentiated by caliber, TD vs fixed and whether its molested. + on that one is it doesn't look meddled with (e.g., not tapped for scope which is a value destroyer) - is its fixed. .300 savage is an in demand but not scarce caliber. Id say $800 to $1200 but thats a wild guess as I haven't bought one in a while and I usually only snag take downs.

    The Savage 99 looks in excellent condition and could bring a lot more than $700. Check the Savage Collectors forum at 24hourcampfire.com

    Ended up getting 1k out of it. Sold it to a nice local collector. Could have gotten a bit more, but it had to go before I flew out.
