I am thinking about getting one to contrast with my 15-22. I have a specific question for an owner. Thanks

Ive been confused by these are they Chiappa designed or just Chiappa imported versions of the Romak .22s which were ok with decent ammo.

I don't know if it is like the Chiappa Rak 9, but the 9 is distributed by Chiappa, but stamped made in Romania.

I just Googled it, mid type, and the Rak 22 is made in Romania too, so imported by Chiappa.

We have been offering the Chiappa RAK22 Rifle for a few years now and not had any problems reported from our shooters .The only real issue has been the lack of aftermarket hi cap mags .

Yeah, I have been looking at the ones you all sell. I was wondering if anyone local here they could answer a question for me. I wanted to see if a standard AK mag would fit in the Rak22 magwell. I ask because, I have the Rak 9, and Tapco AK mags almost fit it perfectly, just need a little filing.

I also got a Grizzly Defense .22lr AK conversion, but failed to consider the Vepr I bought it for has a 1.5mm receiver, not 1mm. It doesn't seem to fit my Vepr, but the mags are designed to fit the standard AK magwell. Was wondering if the Rak22 could physically accept an AK magazine, because the Romanian Rak9 almost does. I was thinking IF it fit, I could at least use the mags from the kit.

This is the Rak9 with a standard 9mm 10rd mag, then with a Tapco AK mag.

My Grizzly Defense kit I was hoping the mags might work in the Rak22.

    UPDATE:

The Chiappa Rak-22 I bought sucked. I could not get it to feed thru an entire magazine. Using the factory 10rd mags. I hope they can get it to work, but they made it a pain in the ass to send back. I wouldn't buy a Chiappa product again. Even though I have a Rak 9, that has run great so far, and I love it.

The Grizzly Defense conversion sucked worse. It started off great. Not super easy to install, but I did it according to the instructions and DVD, and got it running. Ran about half to 3/4 of a mag, then boom, and smoke came out of the ejection port. I had an out of battery discharge and blew the extractor off the gun, and being outside on gravel, I could not find it. So, I am going to try to contact them and see if I can get something. But, it sucks.

Furthermore, my Bear Creek Arsenal .22 upper was a massive failure as well. Sending that POS back for a refund.

My ATI M4-22 was a POS as well. Sent that back, and they sent it back worse than before I sent it in. Turned out they replaced the firing pin, and installed the hammer spring backwards.

So, my lesson learned? Stick with what I know works. I'll be buying another 15-22.

I guess this might be going against the lesson you just learned but I have hear good things about the Tippman M4-22 if you wanted to try something different then another 15-22. Of course it does take different magazines. I just received mine but haven't got to he range yet. It seemed there were lots of good reviews out there and I notice it has more heft then my friends 15-22. I think the worse part about the Tippman is there is no speed loader right now.

I've heard good things about the Tippman, and a trusted source to me doesn't care for them for reasons he explained to me. I have experience with the 15-22s, so I am going to just buy another one of those, and not stray from familiarity. I like how light the 15-22 is honestly.

Gooduck on the 15-22 hunt. If it's not too much do you mind me asking what issues they had or said to keep an eye out for on the Tippman. Always nice to be ahead of a problem if I can be.

So, after emailing Chiappa a few times, I called them to see what was going on with my Rak 22. The news was the magazine well was cut too loose and they wanted to replace the rifle, however, they are on backorder, so, like everything else, gotta wait. I swear, I may be done buying guns at this rate. Maybe that last 15-22 though.

I have a Tippman it runs very well and is accurate for a sporting rimfire. I bought it over the 15-22 because of reports on it (both really..edit 04/06/22). Good luck with your 15-22

That makes sense based on how the mags fit. So much for quality control.

I’ve bought the CMMG bolt/barrel sets and the rest of the guns are standard AR parts. They run great.

    Update

I got the replacement from Chiappa. The mag fitment seems better. I filled the mags with snap caps and hand cycled them all just fine. The wood seems decent. I had thought about changing it on the original one, but probably just leave it as it is. Neat rifle, I hope this one works. I want to hopeully get to the range in the next couple weeks to test it and make a determination on what I want to do with it.
