    FYI

Heads up if you own land in certain parts of Wicomico that adjoins Chesapeake Forest land.

The state very well may have included your land in CFL maps and has been leasing it out for hunting unbeknownst to the taxpayer/owner for some time.

Some plats with small acreage 5-20 ac are almost entirely consumed. If one were to become engaged in a lawful activity such as hunting or other form of recreation, conflict with the persons involved in the lease agreement could also be the result.

The problem has been very well known to the state for some time. A forester recently admitted that contract survey crews did not adequately mark or record boundaries correctly but by having the knowledge and by doing so the problem has not prevented the CFL maps from displaying the mistake(s) properly.

It wouldn't be a stretch to understand how survey difficulty could be the result because of the ground conditions in certain areas. But, the response from forestry is not in alignment for what a landowner would expect from a state agency that not only leased your land, but is also shifting the burden to current owner for establishing the proper boundary at this time.

In Calvert the state does not lease public land, however, on one of the sites there was a boundary dispute with an a joining land owner. Of course the land owner had to prove the boundaries by the state were in correct and pay out of pocket for a survey. All said and done the states boundaries were wrong.

What they're doing is using Chesapeake Co. forestry maps for logging resources from Virginia to re-establish county parcel boundaries to grab wetland and right of way access. And then, peddling them of course as survey maps to unsuspecting persons and land buyers.

If your using forestry maps from CF webpage, or one of those hunter apps that show boundaries, you may be in for a surprise in some areas.
I'm not talking about a few feet over the line either here or there. It's some pretty big chunks totaling more than a few contiguous acres.

Would it not stand to reason then, that if adjacent state property was leased for the sole purpose of hunting, that the boundaries established for said lands would have to be identified by boundary markers identifying it as CFL?

also check the shoreline license maps, we paid to block our shoreline and the state didn't block it and licensed it so someone else. It almost got ugly.

Yeah, some poor schmuck who just wants to hunt a little is going to be in for an unexpected surprise when they find out they're not where they were supposed to be as indicated by incorrect maps provided to them, and they have to move on for something they weren't properly notified about in the first place.
And chipped in for it more than likely to boot.
