We had a lousy outing Saturday but I’m still excited for the season. We did pretty good on the mosquitoes though.

I like that blind. It will look really good brushed out.

Typical me fashion it was a slow morning. I blasted a woodie and pushed the boat off so they could snag my duck. Left my gun in the boat. 5 woodies flew 15 feet over me. My gun was in the boat and they couldn’t shoot cuz motor was running.

My brother and my buddy limited out by 730 but they were hunting a swamp pond off black water.

I think our lottery spot is going to be very productive but the weather was not good fir birds on Sat.

Deer hunting has also been no good so far. Seen them but they are to far for my crossbow and to much vegetation to shoot through. That’s okay though they are coming so I’m happy!

I managed to suck at duck hunting, deer hunting and trout fishing all in one weekend.

I shot a bird on Saturday...it folded and crumpled on the water, belly up. My dog didn't see it go down, and it was far away anyways, so we had to break anchor to go get it. We wait a minute or two in case any other birds flew by. By the time we get to where the bird should be, it was gone! I did see one bird in the vicinity swimming along, and when we got close to it, it flew away. MAJOR bummer. Not only did I not get a duck, but my poor dog didn't get her first retrieve. She's not understanding what all the loud noises are for.

Think I am going to do some goose hunting and deer hunting this year. The kids are bugging me about it like crazy this year. Thing is, indoor soccer starts next week and basketball starts on December 1. I have no idea when they think they will be able to go out and hunt without missing school, and that has only ever happened once for my son. Neither of them would want to miss school anyway. Now, I know what my dad was talking about.

We went down to the Honga Sunday, that flooding took out our blind, luckily we found the 16x4 platform mostly intact about 400 yards away in the marsh, the A frames were a bit tore up but we managed to rebuild them, Lots of buffle heads but didn't see much else.

Anybody seeing any geese? I have seen a couple groups of 20 here and there, but nothing like the 100+ I used to see around here. Saw one huge group a couple days ago that I would guesstimate was 200 birds. Still not seeing geese in group after group after group like I have in years past.
