Just picked up a Ruger PCC 9mm a couple days ago

Seems to be a pretty nice rifle. I have a few 9mm handguns so it just made sense! I got a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 for it and mounted it midway using the low mount. Anyone have the same setup? Looking for pros & cons on the red dot height and location. Mainly going to be used for a indoor range gun and HD. Thanks in advance for your input!

Nice gun. While I don't have that rifle, I do have a few that are setup the same. I feel that when using a tube type of red dot, I bring it towards the rear of the rail. I also shoot with both eyes open and this allows me to concentrate on the target rather than focusing in the sight.

Been looking at these also . Heard you can use Ruger mags or they have a insert to use Glock mags . I like Ruger products never had a issue . Like the breakdown on these . Wanting another pistol caliber rifle but have been looking at lever action 44 . But it’s but up in there on buying the Ruger or ar platform for 9mm.
Decisions Decisions. Please keep update on how this performs for you / how you like it . Don’t know any one who has one . Word of mouth goes a long way sometimes. Nice tool there , congratulations.

I’ve got one. I put a Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot on it. Easy shooting, easy handling, eats any ammo I’ve fed it. I set mine up with the Glock mag adapter as I have two Glocks that frequently accompany it to the range. :gun2:

Interesting story with this....I actually won a Savage.22 Minimalist rifle at a gun bingo. I ended up trading that rifle towards the Ruger PCC 9mm. I think the regular price was in low $600.00 range.

Nice PCC! I got one when they came out and it’s probably my favorite riffle to shot other then my levers. I think Ruger is having a sale right now on accessories so might want to check them out.

John’s right, keeping the optic farther back will give you more field of view through that optic. I would recommend that you get the lowest mount you can get. You want the tube of the optic right down on the top of the gun so you can get a good cheek weld on the stock. Even with a low mount, you may still need a cheek pad.

It comes with replaceable mag well inserts.

You absolutely can use the later Glock magazines when you install the supplied insert. I like the fact that it is a takedown rifle as well, like a bigger 10-22. It also has various thickness spacers to change the buttstock length to your preferred spacing. I will definitely keep updating my thoughts as I get to use it some. I'm going to move the optic to the rear of the rifle and give it a try and get it shook down. I have the low mount that comes with it on it now. I definitely think I need a cheek pad. I appreciate your input!

I have the same rifle and optic. Great purchase as it is a nice rifle and a ton of fun. I used the high mount on my Romeo 5 so I can use both the optic and the sights (looking underneath the optic and through the mount frame). With the low mount you can only use the optic. Truthfully, having access to the sights is not a big issue as the shake-awake feature on the optic keeps the battery in good shape.
Same battery after two years, though I probably should change it proactively.

I chose to have the sight forward. It is my understanding that a red dot should be placed more forward than back for the enhanced field of view (when shooting with both eyes open). Not an expert by any means and this contradicts others who have posted earlier . . . if I am mistaken, I look forward to hearing people's take. At the end of the day, I am sure personal preference decides.

On Takedown models, most people also put the sight forward because there can be slight changes in seating of the barrel into the receiver over time, throwing off the zero. If barrel mounted, this isn't an issue. Probably not possible with a red dot on this design, but it's why the rear iron sight is on the barrel.

A buddy of mine has one and it's pretty picky about glock mags. It works fine with any type of stick mag (including the shitty korean ones) but it refuses to run any of the drums we've tried on it. Has only had about 800 rounds through it though, so in time may loosen up a bit. Just something to be aware of if you're running it for HD, make sure you run your mags at the range and you know which ones are reliable.

I have a Ruger PC9 that I got back in the summer from Cabelas. I paid $450. I ordered a Midwest Industries hand rail for the front and put a Sig Romeo5 with the high mount on it. It is a blast to shoot and very accurate out to 50 yards. I also have a Beretta CX4 storm with the Sig Romeo5 on it and I was going to pick one to keep and sell the other but after shooting both I can't sell one. They are both so much fun. The CX4 Storm was way more expensive....

I've used the takedown feature many times and have not had this problem. I do have problems with FTEs after 6,000 rounds through it.

I shoot mine with Glock mags and the iron sights, also suppressed. Not one issue since I have had it. I don't think I have tried the drum, but it works on everything else glock mag including a WASR M I tried it on.

I've had my PC9 / Romeo5 combo about 6 months, and am VERY happy with it. Excellent groups at 50 yards. No FTF or FTE problems using both Glock and Magpul magazines. I tries extending the stock a bit using the spacers that come with the gun, but changed it back to the original length. I have a buddy in NM that is quite a bit taller than I am. He uses one of the spacers and says he likes it.
