While Marlin was "closed" for a few years, the only other game in town for SWC lever carbines (new) was Henry,, and their prices went through the roof.
    Talking 16-18" barrel, pistol grip, 357, 44 mag, 45-70.

So with with Marlin now shipping, do you expect prices of the Henry's to com down ??

Considering that Ruger implies it will be years before they’re making something close to the full line of familiar Marlins again, and the really popular few they start with will be instantly sold out non stop for at least a year: I’m going to say no. With labor being very tight, the supply chain in Acute Suckage mode, inflation messing with everything while gun demand remains warmer than usual … no. Prices will likely only go up, not down.

Agree. Not much of anything is going down in price right now, gun related or otherwise. I think we'll see the market test new pricing highs for firearms, ammunition and components this year.

This has been going on for YEARS. Almost no one sold their used 357/38 lever action and so many wanted them so they were all going to be new.
Demand for 45-70 shot through the roof as well.
It may take a few years.

After seeing price(s) of some .45-70 leverguns lately, I've thought about selling all of mine.

Heck. I could almost pay half of my new mortgage selling them, and the Shiloh Sharps would pay it off!

I think it would take a large volume of new lever guns coming in to drive prices down. New list prices for Marlins aren’t going to drive Henry down at all. Wish I would’ve gotten some lever guns in more than just 30-30 before they got crazy.

Henry's will never come down as the fit and finish is better than any other new production available.

I sold a couple of JM proofed Marlins earlier this year (several on MDS and several on other firearm forums). I've never sold anything on GB but have bought a number of gun on that auction site. Never looked in to selling on GB (looks like more hassle than I wanted to fool with) but may have to in the future with the insane prices people are paying. In my experience on MDS and other forums you are not going to get the prices on a auction site with a nation wide buyer pool. Most of the guns I sold for less than a grand; but a quick perusal of GB offered Marlin 336 XLRs (which I sold a couple of) they went for between $1500 to $3000. Absolutely crazy but with a nation wide buyer pool and some of those folk more well healed than most -- the desire for a particular gun out weighs the price level.

Yeah - the $1K CMP Garand in 308 is sounding better and better.

I know - not a lever action. Just saying that with lever guns being so pricey they have moved way down on my want list.

“FYI... I will be basing my pricing on what has sold recently on Gunbroker.”

Wow what an offer, he will sell it to you for the same price for you can get anywhere else with no chance of getting lucky and winning a low bid.

Getting lucky on GB also encompasses the condition of guns for auction. Ive been pretty lucky in that respect on purchases on GB but a couple of times been disappointed with the condition. Nothing like being able to inspect a gun locally before purchase. A lot of auctions on GB state that all sales are final or no returns and the description is basically look at the photos and decide for yourself. A tip off to me of a gun that is in poor condition is when the pics are of low quality -- everybody now has great cameras on their cell phones so pictures that don't show details are usually trying to hide the condition.

I sold my 357 Henry on here last year at a great price. I got lucky recently and found one at grabagun in 41 magnum...I'm happy.

The Ruger social media liason told me not to expect the full catalog of Marlins to be available for at least 2 years. I had a Marlin on order for 12 months and didnt want to wait another 2 years. I found a brand new Henry on GunBroker a few days ago from a dealer in California. With shipping, taxes and transfer it was about $400 more than the Marlin.. the MSRP of their 1895 45/70 is $1400 so i expect the 1894 prices will be right up there with the 1895s..

Prices on centerfire lever guns are nuts. I've been looking for a 16" Trapper in 30/30 and they are just not worth the prices they are fetching in the market.

Just saw a Ruger Made MARLIN 1895 SBL 45-70 STAINLESS THREADED BARRELL sell on Gunbroker for over $2600. So yeah, not in my price range anytime soon.

The henry line up is a bargain compared to what the new marlins are going for.

    For now, for sure.

In a couple of years, dunno. Based on the MSRP of the new 1895 45-70 Ruglin, I’d expect 1894s to probably range from $1100-1400. Somewhere in that range. Maybe they’ll hit more like $999, but I am not holding my breath. The reviews of the new Ruglin 1895 sound promising on fit and finish though.

I’d like a 1894 threaded. 16.1-18” in .357. Something with a kings gate, top rail and rear sight. That’s probably a Ruglin since Henry’s have mid mounted sights. If I’ve gotta wait a couple of years, then I have to wait a couple of years. I am at a place I don’t mind paying $$ for one. But I am not willing to pay $$$ or $$$$ inflated prices just because of scarcity.

    So I guess I wait.

Yep... a Marlin 1895 SBL or GBL is still high on my list. Fully expecting to wait a year or two for supply to increase before making a purchase. I was impressed on the improvements to the SBL that Ruger introduced. Seems the only currently shipped ones are seemingly making their way directly to gunbroker (or people are selling their old remlins as "rebranded" new product). Still have not seen one in the wild or on any of the online retailers. Going to be a wait, methinks.

    No love for Uberti?
I just scored this nice 1873 from GB.
It has an 18” half octagon barrel, and is chambered in 357 mag. I paid just over $1400 which may be a little high, but I’ve wanted one for a long time and don’t anticipate prices going down any time soon, if ever.
