I used to use on (that I made as they didn't sell them in the '70's) as I reloaded with surplus powders that were slower than the 4895 - 4064 range. The reason it was needed is that the slower powders put out more volume that the powders that the M1 was made for. For that purpose, they worked fine and I never bent an op rod.

If you want to use them with factory ammo, you would have to buy all of the same lot or chance inconsistencies in operation.

Can you tell my why you think you need it for using factory ammo?

Check out Garand gear . They have a gas plug that may meet your needs . I bought one , it was recommended to me . I’ve had no issues . Make your own judgement though . I don’t shoot anything hot out of it for fear of damaging something . I have shot Remington ( green yellow box) but I still try to stay with ammo that “says” for M1 .

PPU 150gr. Made for the M1.
I found one site that is selling the PPU 30.06 for 1.50/rd (in stock) --is this right?
Been out of touch with ammo and shooting news but still have some of the Greek HXP that I bought a while back - nowhere near this price. WoW!!!

I also bought a gas plug years ago, but haven't used it yet due to my supply of the Greek HXP ammo.
