I have the 16 in also. Only issues I have are not resetting the trigger with standard velocity. Tried a few cci mini mags and they worked fine. Would like to get it to work consistently with standard velocity.

I believe all it will take is shortening the recoil spring. Order a spare and then cut one coil at a time until standard velocity cycles properly.

Update #4 . Today I took the rifle out to wring it out for absolute reliability. I shot multiple 30 round strings of CCI Mini Mags, CCI Standard Velocity, PMC Target and Federal Auto Match for a total of about 400 rounds. NO MALFUNCTIONS occurred and I did not clean it since I started shooting it. I fooled around, shot it sideways unsupported, barely holding in one hand, and as fast as I could pull the trigger and I had 0 problems. It still will not fire Winchester 333 and Winchester Xpert are iffy.

I am very happy and want to thank KEV308 for the pointer. :party29::party29::party29:

Awesome. I hope my replacement upper works well, I just need to find the time to get to the range.:party29:

I have a few guns that DO NOT like Winchester anything. Ruger 10/22 has no problems but a few semi auto pistols puke on them. Over a decade ago, I took a microscope to many brands of 22LR. Winchester has bad rim flatness. CCI is the best rim flatness.
    CCI great
    ELY good
    Federal not bad
    American Eagle so so
    Remington not very good
    Winchester bad

Thanks, that confirms my theory that something was definitely different with the Winchester ammo. I shoot it for practice with my Ruger Mk pistols but you never know when one is not going to go off so I never use it in matches.

Read the reports that I have written and determine for your self. I think that, after a couple of hundred CCI mini mags, it pretty much gets broken in and will shoot standard velocity ammo. The only real tinkering to do is to make the firing pin tip the shape of a chisel which will give better strikes on the rim of the cartridge.

I took the new upper out briefly today and didn't have good results so far. Could just be the ammo. I planned of testing 5 different types of ammo. I only got thru 2 of them. So far I tried Aguila and Armscor standard velocity. Both had similar results. I could only fire one round at a time. The following round looked like it chambered but it seemed the trigger did not reset. Pushing the side charger forward had no effect and pulling the charger back ejected the following unfired round. IT WAS COLD!!! 19 DEGREES, MY HANDS WERE SHAKING, and I did not have the will to figure out what was happening. This was a new lower I hadn't used before so I swapped uppers to a new BCA 16" 5.56 I bought months ago and haven't used yet. I had no issues with that upper and it grouped fairly well despite all the shivering.

I really think you need to break it in with CCI Mini Mags before it will fire SV ammo. At least that is how mine worked.

This is what I was thinking too. I had some Remington High Velocity I should have started with, but when I was loading the magazines I knew I wasn't staying long. Only shot 20 rnds of 22lr and 80 rounds all together.
